Recruiting Football Talk VIII

So after seeing that cringeworthy interaction Gastineau had with Brett Favre I looked it up...he's behind TJ Watt and Michael Strahan any plans to meet TJ and complain about one of his sacks next?

Also...I hope he plays a full 15 years cause TJ Watt is the only active player with a real shot at Smith/White
It was a bisch move by Favre. Until now Gastineau looked classy through his silence…like Hank Aaron did when Bonds cheated his way to Aaron’s HR record. Hopefully it was therapeutic.

Weren’t these ACC officials?

They were. I was at that game- probably the worst officiated game I’ve ever seen. They threw flags on our DB’s for contact while Tillman gets his jersey clearly pulled in a key play late before missing the FG. Then OT. If you had never watched sports, you would think there was some agenda there.

Not really it's a very unsustainable system
You want us to forfeit the baseball CWS because we used NIL and portal? Should we forfeit Knecht and Lanier's basketball games and repudiate them?

Why should we think that the market won't correct? No need for Nixonian price controls.

And, most importantly, and setting aside the buzzword "sustainable," who exactly is supposed to be the entity that controls NIL with justice? The NCAA and any entity appointed by the NCAA is out. Maybe you want the CFP that ignore Michigan and then appointed the Michigan AD to head playoff selection to assume autocratic powers.

The old regime is even trying to gain access to every NIL deal before it is offered and assert approval powers -- for every player in college athletics.

People have a tendency to imagine or hallucinate perfect judges and popo when they promote their new enforcement regimes. That's the fundamental mistake.

The parity is because more teams are ass. That's not a good thing.
2. Eventually without one good teams will just buy all the high end talent.
3. This isn't a sustainable model at all. It's going to either price all fans out, or crash to a point of no recovery.
You're just used to 4 or 5 teams being light years better than everyone else. That's a REALLY bad thing. Yes those 4 or 5 have been brought down to the level that college football teams should be. We had some junior NFL teams playing against college teams, now we have 10-20 college teams who could all win the title.

It looks like nobody is good anymore because we no longer have junior NFL teams playing against college teams.

Yes. I have a photo of one of those holds on Tillman. I could find it. His jersey was stretched out in the shape of a ship's sail at the DB's hand.

It's not. Those dominant teams look like championship teams
Nobody this year is worthy of a championship.

Make college athletics what they are a minor league for their professional leagues, and have them set a board to govern these leagues.

And those teams were paying players under the table. There was nothing pure or Edenic in the old system.

Oh I agree, but I think people treating it like that's the only reason... I mean what about the week before when Strahan had 3.5 sacks against the Eagles to even make the 1 sack at Green Bay the record breaker?

Gastineau had just 3 seasons where he even reached 15 sacks from all accounts the dude was a selfish player and his teammates didn't really like him. So I don't think it was therapeutic and he'll likely always hold a grudge because that one season was the only reason anyone even knew his name and that's been taken away now.

If you are intent on hating and destroying the golden age of Vols athletics, you need to look elsewhere for approval. My advice is to enjoy this freedom that whiners call "the wild west."
