Recruiting Football Talk VIII

Oh I agree, but I think people treating it like that's the only reason... I mean what about the week before when Strahan had 3.5 sacks against the Eagles to even make the 1 sack at Green Bay the record breaker?

Gastineau had just 3 seasons where he even reached 15 sacks from all accounts the dude was a selfish player and his teammates didn't really like him. So I don't think it was therapeutic and he'll likely always hold a grudge because that one season was the only reason anyone even knew his name and that's been taken away now.
He doesn’t get the record without Favre taking a dive. No one (including Favre) disputes that. Thought it was shameful at the time and I always respected Strahan and not so much Gastineau.

How can people think Favre was going to elude the tackler? Why should he get planted? For no reason, when the game was over. It's not Favre's job. I see stuff like that every time I watch the NFL. Just ESPN trying to sell commercials by exploiting whatshisname's pain and reward his severe crybaby schtick, imo. Bruh needs help.

I refuse to follow every little sensation the media conjures up... But I have to know, is it illegal for random drone owners to fly drones in unrestricted airspace?

Isn't it most likely some bored teenagers? I see drones almost weekly in some form or fashion, why is this situation riling people up so much?

I mean ESPN isn't picking the Heisman but they sure as hell are making it obvious.

Lead story on the NCAAF page is about Travis Hunter.

He's more than deserving, but goodness if he wasn't playing for Deion he wouldn't be there at all and we all know it. I do however find it a bit hilarious that his own son isn't present and the entire offense was designed around inflating Shedeur's numbers. 😂🤣

And before anyone comes at me, Hunter finished 5th in receptions with 92, 6th in receiving yards with 1152, 2nd in receiving TDs with 14. Then on defense he had 32 combined tackles, 1 TFL, 4 INTs, 11 pass deflections (lead Big 12) and 1 FF.

Neither of those stats would be enough alone, but since he accomplished both in the same season I completely get why he's there and if he wins I honestly won't complain.

BUT

If the Heisman is an award about recognizing the most outstanding player in college football...it's Ashton Jeanty. He has at least 1 game left and sits at 2497 rushing yards, 4th most by a RB in a single season. His 29 rushing TDs are the most by anyone in a decade and just 8 behind Barry's record. And because of his season his team is in the college football playoffs.
Hunter has been leading the race most all season and it hasn't been particularly close.

He didn't start out in the top 5. Sanders and all many other QBs did and none of them produced to that level and Hunter playing both ways filled the gap with ease.

Jeanty did make a nice push though, but it's been a clearcut race for some time now by the folks that put money where their mouth is, Vegas. I think being an elite 2 way player will put him over the top.

this happened with me and nascar. was a huge fan. now i dont care at all.
Me too. We had season tickets for Bristol and Atlanta for a few years. The 1st thing that happened after Nascar got popular was I got priced out my tickets, then Earnhardt died, then they had the "car of tomorrow", now all the drivers look a like and act the same way..... it's boring. (They also talk too much prerace and the Sunday races don't start until later in the afternoon. I go to church on Sunday nights and miss seeing who wins.) IMO, greedy people killed Nascar and those same type of "executives" will kill college football, too.

A lot of Heisman talk. I think I stopped caring when I noticed that all these awards are biased. Certainly stopped when Reggie got his taken away. Would have probably stopped caring when PM got cheated out of his but I was too young lol
They're biased towards QBs...and being on a championship level team.

Those are the typical biases. Neither will exist for any of the top candidates this year. This might be the best year yet for the underdog candidates. They play at smaller schools, not on top 3 teams, and not even QBs. This might be the truest Heisman in some time.

It's been corrupt since Majors wasn't given one.

Paul Hornung winning with 3 TDs to 13 INTs on a Notre Dame team that finished 2-8
Jim Brown should've won, according to Majors.

But folks like a good double-plattoon player. And Hornung did account for the 2nd most offensive yards that season. Ofc there were other biases at play at that time going against Brown...
