Recruiting Football Talk VIII

I just do not want it to end up hurting us...we are nowhere near able to compete with the really big spenders.

Heupel has made it work well so far, but it's like walking a tightrope...we are just a few wrong personell decisions or bad breaks from going 4-4 in the SEC because we obviously don't have the money to buy competitive depth or room to miss very much.

This is just getting way out of hand...I see way too much downside to the current pure chaos going on...I do not and never will like or be comfortable with chaos...chaos is always destructive. It is a fundamental law of nature.

No Orange...before you even say it..NO I DO NOT WANT TO HAVE A CORRUPT SYSTEM EITHER. I want a fair model for everybody where at least a spark of the tradition that made CFB beautiful to me is kept alive...I do not want it to be destroyed forever.

Why the hell is it so hard to acknowledge the very real danger if that happening? It is obvious as hell to me.

I feel you but I truly believe it won’t hurt us. We have very capable people in charge now. Doesn’t mean we’re a lock for the playoff every year but we’ll be in contention.

Also every program is in the same position where a few wrong personnel decisions can take them out of contention for a season, even if they spend more on those players. Or a key injury here or there (just like pre-NIL). Only the true F-ups can end up like FSU tho 😆.

It's how most of the CFB world thinks. For whatever reason, Heupel isn't that highly regarded, at least among casual/biased fans.
What he has done at Tennessee just to this point is freaking miraculous to anybody with a functioning brain...but it is hard to hate on outsiders too much for underrating and disrespecting Heup when our own Idiot Margin disparages him incessantly, and disrespects him far worse than outsiders do.

I refuse to follow every little sensation the media conjures up... But I have to know, is it illegal for random drone owners to fly drones in unrestricted airspace?

Isn't it most likely some bored teenagers? I see drones almost weekly in some form or fashion, why is this situation riling people up so much?
The thing is...these are not normal sized drones. These things are 6-8 feet across...and there are dozens of them.

LT is often the 2nd or 3rd most valuable position on an entire team.

Makes sense. In the NFL even the 32nd highest paid LT is making 10x that. And yet plenty of college coaches make just as much as many NFL HCs.

Yet no one scoffs when an old coach gets $10mm/yr...interesting 🤔
College sports will always be coach driven, it is a totally different dynamic and always will be thanks to the jhsane rate of turnover and recruiting...you say this same dumb 💩 every time this crap is brought up and never acknowledge that fact.

I mean ESPN isn't picking the Heisman but they sure as hell are making it obvious.

Lead story on the NCAAF page is about Travis Hunter.

He's more than deserving, but goodness if he wasn't playing for Deion he wouldn't be there at all and we all know it. I do however find it a bit hilarious that his own son isn't present and the entire offense was designed around inflating Shedeur's numbers. 😂🤣

And before anyone comes at me, Hunter finished 5th in receptions with 92, 6th in receiving yards with 1152, 2nd in receiving TDs with 14. Then on defense he had 32 combined tackles, 1 TFL, 4 INTs, 11 pass deflections (lead Big 12) and 1 FF.

Neither of those stats would be enough alone, but since he accomplished both in the same season I completely get why he's there and if he wins I honestly won't complain.

BUT

If the Heisman is an award about recognizing the most outstanding player in college football...it's Ashton Jeanty. He has at least 1 game left and sits at 2497 rushing yards, 4th most by a RB in a single season. His 29 rushing TDs are the most by anyone in a decade and just 8 behind Barry's record. And because of his season his team is in the college football playoffs.
Jeanty should win the Heisman

Check out the last couple pages of the UFO thread in the Politics Forum if you're interested in that kind of thing. Just in the last week:

2 different airline pilots in Texas watched UFOs moving around very fast back and forth etc for 30mins to an hour while talking to the ATC on the ground giving specifics. They estimated the altitude to be about 100 MILES. Audio and written dialog is posted there.

4 or more pilots in Oregon watched UFOs for a long time also...quickly changing altitude from under 20k feet to over 50k feet and " moving so fast that I dont know how to describe it." According to pilots. The ATC on the ground took reports and even gave the pilots their name and phone # asking for photos and video lol. This audio and dialog are also there in their entirety. In both cases these are all trained pilots that know what they are seeing. In neither case could the ATC with their powerful ground based radars see ANY of the crafts which the pilots were all calling about. They were invisible to radar. Really interesting stuff to listen to if you are so inclined. Theres lots of good dudes in the PF also.
