Recruiting Football Talk VIII

Who we pulling for in the early games today?

I gotta pull for Texas, only because I do NOT want Clemson and Dabo (and all the folks at work) to get rewarded for being a 3 loss mediocre team that got lucky to fall backward into their title game and win a trash league (below the MWC and Little12 champs 😅🤣)

I'll go with SMU over PSU. Get a more talented team out of here, that helps.
SMU is talented, they look much faster and athletic all over the field..but they are a freaking disaster waiting to happen on offense thanks to their QB.

I take everything I have said back, Indiana isn't the worst team in the playoffs. Really it's the first time I have watched SMU, saw a little vs. Clemsuck. Jumped up jigidy Judas Priest SMU sucks. I am so sorry yall that I said that there were going to be horrible first round games and two horrible semis. I had no freaking idea how bad it was going to be.
If you are going to defend these garbage teams being the best and deserving to be in the playoffs, save me the trouble of coming over there. Take your belt off, drop your britches, and beat your own azz.

The biggest issue with CFB is each commissioner having their own personal fiefdoms and not being able to come together for the good of the sport. The ideal situation would be to go back to 5 regional conferences but force more major OOC games so each season we would actually have a better idea of how teams from different conferences compare. But instead we let people like Greg Sankey and Tony Pettiti be the private equity version of CFB and chase short term dollars and personal power versus long term sustainability and keeping what makes CFB special.

12 is fine. Just stop the auto byes. It would be great if they just ranked the top12 and seeded them by their ranking. Screw the conference title games auto bids & byes

This is the way. Will be better next year. With next years rules, as a #6 team we would be at home in Neyland vs what the #11 team? Who is that SMU? Blowout playing backups in the 2nd half

Exactly. Their success does NOT help us. Eff perception if they suck, their great success literally hurts us in very direct ways.

Seeing all the SEC love out of nowhere last night was sad. Hopefully just the dark liquor talking.
Don't be obtuse...it's not "SEC love"...it's the fact that we are in the SEC, so it's self preservation that is the ubderlying feeling. At some point we are going to go 9-3 because the SEC is a minefield...and this stupid 💩 is going to hurt US.

Sure it's a ton of fun to think of SC, Bama and Ole Piss fans sitting there crying and pissed off...it's not so fun when you KNOW that will be us at some point thanks to the pure brutality of playing in the SEC getting disrespected.

There are no truly easy games...with even Vandy playing better...literally anybody in the SEC can beat you on a given day. NFL talent is on every freaking team.

Simple question for you...if Indiana played UFs schedule, what do you honestly think their record would be?
I don’t think Indiana is a good team and never ever thought they were a legitimate contender. I just think under the current system they deserved a chance to prove it on the field. I am not a fan of the eye test and bias of assuming the same teams with the best recruiting rankings should be in the playoffs. Everyone has bitched all year about favoring the same teams and now everyone is arguing that’s what we should do. I just don’t see any team that didn’t get in the playoffs that had a better Resume or legitimately deserved a chance. I see a bunch of teams that could have gotten drilled by Notre Dame on the road because they actually did get drilled in actual games by teams that are worse. Too answer the question I believe Indiana is 6-6 or 7-5 with Floridas schedule. For the record I think they could beat SMU.
