Recruiting Football Talk VIII

But but but recruiting rankings don’t matter lol
Ofc they do.

But I'll say this - if we had them in Neyland at night it would've been a different story.

Even on a neutral field, I think it would've been competitive.

After that 1st drive face mask, the momentum was overwhelming. From Q2-Q4 it was a 17-21 game. That Q1 momentum just put us in such a big hole.

Our class talent is improving. Will take time to see the field, but it's coming up across the board.

We overachieved this year. Lacking talent at too many position groups to win a playoff game at Ohio State.

Heup has to get the dudes and pay up. He’s got a great opportunity here in the next 3-4 years. Continued development of Nico, Faizon coming in, an elite left tackle prospect in Sanders. We have to complement them with the skill guys.

“Rebuilding year”

Some of y’all need to quit with Pruitt level excuses.

How was it not? We were picked to finish 7th in the SEC.

New QB, New RB1, Fully revamped secondary, New TE room, Lost our 2nd leading WR, lost our top 6 leading tacklers…

Just because Milton’s team only won 9 doesn’t mean this team wasn’t inexperienced and a rebuild. The good news the younger talent overall rose to the occasion.

I’d like to see us run tempo again, but I think Nico doesn’t have the ability to process fast enough. Milton had the same issue.
He's just inexperienced this season. I don't see Milton in him.

Remember HH came in with 2 full seasons under his belt and was a senior already.

I feel like we need to adjust the passing game a lot. Dead routes & WRs stopping before plays finish not even acting like they are expecting the ball is to easy for better talent to shut down.

Ya have 4 routes you need the D to feel like all 4 are threats otherwise zone eats our lunch and we see the one or two live routes double & even triple covered
That’s coaching!! Period.

Of the 12 teams in the playoffs. Only two had second year QBs. Only one had a RS Freshman. Half the field is a 4-6 year guys.
Oregon, Ohio St, ND and probably a few more chose not to roll with an average vet , or inexperienced QB and got a playoff winning QB from the portal.
Texas , who else?

Now that we got shellacked, I’m gonna say what I have been thinking for 2 weeks.

Ohio state is the most talented team in the country, and they are going to win it all.

I knew Ohio State had more talent, then I started looking at class and player rankings around the second quarter last night and went “Holy S”.

They play like that last night the rest of the way and nobody is beating them.
