Recruiting Football Talk VIII

Yeah, we're not swimming in the same pond with the big guys. Don't see that changing. I don't think Spyre is everything we've been told it is. I don't see anything changing either. I think our ceiling is going to always be a fringe playoff team. Wealthy programs will always rise to the top. Alabama is in a similar place as we are. I think you'll see, OSU, OR, TEXAS, ND at the top. They've got limitless money.
Your argument sprung a leak with Oregon. They have spent the same amount on NIL that Tennessee has this past season…

I think some of the limitations on play calling is on poor OL play. But there were times last night that Nico had plenty of time. Either recievers were covered or Nico wasn't seeing them. It seems our routes are so very basic. 2 years ago and even last year, we had some really creative stuff to get recivers open. Not so much anymore. Something has changed and I don't think it's all because a lack of talent.
4th year-5th year vision versus 1st year vision.
Hard to confuse Hooker.
Nico isn’t there yet.
It seemed like he was determined to show that the cold didn’t affect him and that he wasn’t going to shy away from contact.
His frame can add a lot of muscle in the offseason, but he will never hit 230. He has such a slender build. Worried about his durability.

He is very talented. I’m not sure what happened from the Iowa bowl game to this season, but it was a definite difference in touch and connection with his WRs, TEs and RBs.

One thing that an announcer said during the Arkansas game was that the Arkansas QB and Nico had spent several Summers at the same QB training academy.

Manning and his receivers were together every Summer and worked on timing routes until they were totally in sync. That might be what they need. JMO

Merry Christmas to everyone. Hold your loved ones close and enjoy every second of it.

Just lost an uncle this morning that meant everything to me. In a way, he raised me growing up. A part of me is now gone.

Much love to everyone here and hope you have the most blessed day with your family. Love you guys.
Condolences, Trippie. I hope you are surrounded by love and comfort today. Blessings to you and yours.

Condolences to you, Trippie, and peace for you and your whole fam. That can be hard, I know. My fave uncle passed away a few years ago. He is the one who took my bro and I to our first Vols game. I miss him. But more often than not I think of happy times like that game. I hope with time all the happy memories come back to overwrite the pain of the moment.

Did we 'make' the playoffs with the Vandy win, or was it Mississippi State? Or NC State? Or squeaking past UF & UA?
Hilarious one there kid.. We snuck back into a playoff that we clearly didn't belong in solely because of all of the other losses that teams above us took after we did not win @ UGA.

Merry Christmas to all. 🎅

A whole lot of teams failed to squeak past UF, Bama, or even Vandy. Your “point” isn’t valid.

lol “no guaranteed easy wins”…but all of our wins are trash?
It was more of stating the truth than an attempt at making a point. Florida sucked and we were fortunate to beat them. Vandy beating Bama basically made us beating them a prerequisite. And I'm glad we did. But that was a struggle as well. Our best win was against a middling bama team, and it was down to the last drive.

No. No SEC game is a guarantee, nor easy. Not all of our wins were trash. None of them were.

But the way in which we won our big games, and lost to UGA (our biggest game, which was for the SEC title game, which meant a bye or a home playoff game) were proof that we we're not a championship level team. OSU just put the stamp on it. Now that's a 'point' for your ass to stew on. Merry Christmas, & GoVols.

I hate to tell you, but there’s not twelve “championship level teams” in the country by your standard. Especially if you’re not counting bama since they’re “middling”
