Recruiting Football Talk VIII

When the chef is up for being one of the best in the world...then you might look silly doing so.

But go right ahead, anyone can.

He’s not exactly Tony V right now. There are some glaring issues for a 4th year HC among all of the great things. It isn’t all that silly to point them out and question if a fresh perspective/some new personnel could help with those issues.

It's all about getting a dollar while they can. Most will never play another down after their Senior Season and the ones that get drafted seldom last more than a year or two in the pro's. These young men are in some cases the cash cow for their family, friends, handlers and who knows who else is in their ear. Anytime the potential to make a dollar is there people will take it and these guys are put in a situation to not always choose what is best for them but what they think is best for everybody around them. The sad part is the sob stories of lost riches by some won't come out for five or ten years. The NIL deals have made the under the table cash legal now and the transfer portal, the way it is today, is a ridiculous byproduct.

Isn’t Dillingham at ASU like 34?

Yep. Started coaching at the hs level when he was 17 though. Make of that what you will. Been coaching at the college level for 10. When you hire someone relatively inexperienced you take a chance of looking like a genius or a fool. Hiring Pope at 29 hasn't looked brilliant to date. Hiring Sean McVay as HC made someone at the Rams look like a genius.
