Sampson was great though
RBs can flourish is this offense
Never been concerned about them

But even if Lewis is amazing if Nico starts throwing more than 25 passes a game Lewis will never have that type of season. I think he’ll be great just won’t be Dylan Sampson. Hard carried us this year.

I feel like this situation is exactly the same as the cornerback from bama. Wanted to be a starter next year just wanted to secure a bigger bag. Hopefully he stays we need him.

The issues at WR, with what we know this offense can do. Are simply mind boggling.

Tennessee should never ever struggle recruiting skill guys. Period. We have an offensive guru.

Seven guys are transferring.

Seven.

If guys werent good enough, then wth did we recruit them? Is Pope not a good evaluator?

Why are we struggling to keep our best recruits? We have time to sell.

Why are we seeing YoY degredation at a position we should have literally no issues recruitng?

We should be able to stockpile 4/5 stars moreso than Florida. Something stinks.

I think the shine may be off the guru and the scheme doesn’t seem nearly as effective anymore. Also, they seem unwilling/unable to make adjustments to get playmakers on the field with the ball in their hands

Keep in mind that Ole Miss and aTm both went 9-3 this year after spending BIG money in the portal and having talented rosters.

ATM went 8-5 this year, in year 3 of the 2022 Greatest Class Ever.

If anything I think it means more now and should only be used when a player is actually at UT for their whole college career. Right now it’s like “once a Vol, always a Vol”, and that doesn’t feel like and accurate description for most players anymore.

I think 8-4 or 9-3 is reality next year. We are gonna be young at Oline, LB, Dline backups, probably Safety/Nickel and REALLY young at WR. With a very talented but young QB with only 1 season under his belt.

8-9 wins certainly possible. I’d say it’s possible for most of the teams in the top half of the league.

OL and especially WR will be young. Would like to see another portal at OL and definitely wanna see how WR shakes our.

Defensively, we won’t be young at all.

Now you've lost two recruiting cycles, even id MM stays. You paint yourself into a corner:

A) relying solely on playoff teams
B) spring portal
C) Hope your WR 'coach' can pull a rabbit out if his nethers

I officially don’t like the new college sports model. It’s looking like we’re gonna get Gundy’d by the top 40 players annually for better deals.

It won’t take my fandom away, but it sure is taking the fun out of it. Not worth buying a player’s jersey, getting invested in them, or even expect to see them graduate from UT.



The dollar is now the alma mater.

I had a revelation last night. We bought an authentic Nico jersey for our son this year for Christmas. I see rumors about Nico and was mad. I don’t think I will buy player jerseys again. I’m sure people will still buy them, but this stuff actually hurts player’s NIL by not buying their merchandise. Loyalty can get you somewhere in life.

Obvious utility guy..one could argue Q was playing out of position…Harrison Bailey didn’t get a fair shake in my opinion like Nico has with JH…he’s obviously more qb friendly being a qb in college himself so he gets it and knows how to manage that position like he has..our previous coaching staffs miss the boat on that one.we’ve never heard anything concerning ruffled feathers from anyone transferring from that position…it’s all coaching development…we’ve seen it over the years and what separates good coaches from great coaches…great coaches adapt their schemes to fit what they have..good coaches implement their schemes into the players they need to fit their schemes….i know which one we have and it’s mark richt

If Harrison Bailey was good enough, he wouldn’t have transferred 3 more times. He couldn’t start at UNLV.

The portal has closed to enter it. Not for those already in it. We can still take guys in the portal. We took several in January last year. Why are we acting like we can’t add anyone?

I have always been careful about which pro athletes that I buy. It is going to be a lot worse in college. I never thought I would miss college football system from the 80’s but i do.
