Recruiting Football Talk VIII

@knoxvol52 Bears to interview Matt Campbell. Haven’t formed an opinion, myself…but thoughts?
Mat Campbell has done very well with less at Iowa State but is a defensive minded Head Coach. I think the Bears need an offensive minded Head Coach for the development of Caleb Williams. A person along the lines of Ben Johnson, Bobby Slovlik of the Texans or even McCarthy. If the Bears are looking to go College route then Sark would be a good one to look into.

Any movie buffs out there? I have some time off tomorrow and I’m curious on whether I should treat myself to Gladiator 2 or Complete Unknown. I’m leaning towards gladiator 2, but figured I’d get the opinions of others who may have seen it.
Gladiators 2 was ok movie. Only movie I have seen in a theater in about 5 years. I would give it a 7 out of 10

Maybe, but we say that every offseason about the OL losses, and it seems every season we just come out really solid, then improve during the season grind.
You lost me.
Didn’t we bring back like 4 starters and 2 backup OL and added Heard?
And our protection of the 8mil $$ man was atrocious

Most scrutinized owners in Professional Sports

1. The Jones family
2. The Steinbrenners
3. The Buss Family...
I’ve got bad news for the cowboy fans,
#2 and #3 were winning championships while the head of the family was alive,
They went down hill fast when the kids took over

I'm kinda disappointed they RF didn't give us a bunch of mermaid jokes. They really floundered.

*stolt from @engineerVOL but he don't use it no more so it's ok for me to use it because it's a top shelf GIF and I really like it and it's a perfect GIF for this instance

I very well think the reverse may be the situation with Jones. I think there is a decent chance that once Jerry kicks the bucket and is no longer around to muck things up, his son may actually be able to break through and lead the Cowboys to a Super Bowl victory. I don't think they'll get another one as long as Jerry is a part of the organization though.

Did you skip the '22 season?
When he averaged only 50 YPG and 4 TD’s on over 50 receptions? Like I said he’s a talented player and good leader. Not the best fit for the offense. The offense needs guys like Thornton and Hyatt that can average 20 yards a catch… Even Keyton who’s not nearly the athlete or as talented averaged 18 YPC twice and had more TD’s

The offense is at its best with guys that regular get you huge chunk plays. Bru is more like Juaun Jennings, a dawg and gonna get the tough yards but he’s not getting you 50 yard bombs every game

So just cut the entire short game out of the offense?

How do you figure? He is the exact huge/physical receiver for all the quick screen game we run. He is fast enough to take it to the house to (see Florida 2023).
You don’t want big and physical and screen plays. You want quick and elusive

Bru is good for the curls and comebacks and being a great leader for the young WR’s. Hope he makes an NFL roster and I bet when he gets a chance he’ll ball out like Jennings has for 49ers

That very well may be true. Pretty sure Stephen Jones has been involved with personnel decisions, and they’ve drafted well. They also decided years ago to invest in the OL. It worked for a while until the money got high, and they had to overhaul it.

I also like bru for slants and I think we should be figuring out how to take advantage of his size against smaller players in the red zone. I even like him against linebackers as I think he’s faster than many of them if we could position him for those matchups but we don’t seem to keen on trying to bring him inside at all. Obvious our best blocker too (though I liked what I saw from MM in that category when he was out there).

Bru averaged over 20 YPC against Florida and LSU in 2022. 19 against Bama. Had a long TD catch against Pitt beating man coverage. He had the ability, but they isolated Hyatt a bunch. That was pre-injury though.
