Recruiting Football Talk VIII

Texas defense has had a lot to do with it, but OSU has not been near as elite tonight as they were against TN or Oregon.

Still think OSU was just a juggernaut that night in Columbus and very few teams were gonna slow them down….

We were fed to the wolves, just like Tennessee playing in Athens, right after they were humiliated by Ole Miss…

Look on the field at the players for these final 4 teams and it’s honestly a miracle we made the playoffs being from the SEC
CJH doing impressive job with talent we have
Gotta keep building

I pledged in my prayers to God the choice of my left nut or the naming rights to my first born son for a sinkhole in the middle of the field, no casualties of course, and so far nothing. What more does it take?
An additional reason to root for Tejas (I forgot this one) is to shut up the televised motor mouths who love them some Big 10. It would mean that none of the Big 10’s four seeded teams made the final round.

I am going meteor.

I think I would amend your prayer to exclude the nut option, if I were you. 😆 Little Baruch Spinoza Sandler. My prediction.

Yes lucky. He didn't recruit or develop the DL, but the DL made him look better than I believe he actually is.

DL is the core of a defense. Nobody could pass on us because the DL was in the backfield so quickly. And the DL was in the backfield despite a super super basic scheme, so it's really hard for me to credit Banks. It doesn't mean Banks is bad, but he hasn't shown me anything at all yet to suggest he can out scheme sec OCs. However he hasn't really had to show that because like I said, he could just run base, rush 4, and get home most of the year because the DL was that good. Maybe when he has to actually be creative and adjust he will.

There is absolutely nothing lucky about a DC hiring positional coaches that are great at their job & him benefiting from that.

I do agree DL deserves the lion’s share of credit, but lucky is a terrible word to use. Banks’ defense has improved every year he’s been here, he’s had to replace only 1 positional coaches from his first year. He’s gotta be a pretty good defensive mind.

I doubt RG, Willie or Ekeler would have stuck around if he wasn’t.

It looks like ithis year it doesn't have to be the crown if the player is defenseless. It can be helmet, shoulder, arm, etc. But the rules are not clear at all imo. I think there is a contradiction. am not talking about the play (which I didn't see) but in general.

How do you read it? You can answer this later, if you want.

From the front matter:

The rules (from Section 9):
Correct, but in the play in question, the player was not defenseless, so the crown is the only way you can have targeting.

I think Boo will show us how much is Pope and how much was players not caring enough.

People forget good DBs have to know routes as well as WRs, Boo spent an entire year practicing against our offense & he’s been told “you learn it & you play” so no question about his motivation & dedication to learning it.

If we see him early & often and he plays well then maybe Pope was dealing with more dead weight than we realized. If Boo doesn’t get on the field then we have to question Pope and Heupel and their WR choices.
I don’t see how anyone thinks our players didn’t care enough.

I did expect Boo in the slot that last game.

Did banks hire RG? If so, you're right he does deserve some credit, but not for being a good scheming DC.

They’re both good I can afford to lose one for this
