Recruiting Football Talk VIII

I don’t typically chime in on coach changes, and I’ve kinda been keeping my thoughts to myself lately about the current staff but……. Thoughts around the complex are pretty universal. Some folks think others should do more in the recruiting circles.

I, personally think two changes should be made. I’ll let you all decide who those should be.

We used to play Cosby. Never forget riding to the game on the bus and several pickups with students were waiting on the side of the road to give us birds on the way in. Never seen my coach so mad before a game. 🤣
Played basketball for a school in Middle Tennessee in the early-mid 90s, and we played Cosby every year and would stay in Gatlinburg. One year there was a decent snow, and the drive after the game back to Gatlinburg was dicey. I always enjoyed those games. Cosby had a good, physical team and all of us were focused on a little holiday to Gatlinburg. Was kind of a wake up game for us.

Banks and Glen

Banks???

Banks is 1 of the most effective and desired DCs in the nation right now. Job offers from Miami and Clemson at the top of their lists...not weeks later after they've been turned down repeatedly.

The UT defense has objectively improved in every way statistically every single season he has been here. #6 defense nationally this season despite having an overachiever walk-on at safety and underclassmen LBs that suck in pass coverage at this point. Our defense carried this team all season. Averaged 16 points per game (including the 42 at OSU). Banks will be here until he wants to leave...to take a HC job elsewhere IMO. Be hard pressed to find someone better to take his place too. Who is better? Who is a better DC in the SEC right now?

I thought the Negas were done with the "fahr Banks" nonsense when the defense carried our team all year in what should have been an 11-1 campaign..IF Nimrod could catch the clap in a brothel. Sadly he couldnt catch anything.

If it's just about recruiting, I've heard negative things said about Ekeler and Elarbee.

But the WRs have been subpar for two years straight, and our OL can't pass block worth a piss, so my vote is Elarbee and Pope.

Read that whole article.

Got 1 thing to say:

I love this fanbase. The Negas get under my skin sometimes...but I love TENNESSEE fans. We have the most passionate fanbase in the country.

Try to leave like a thief in the night? We are gonna riot.

Try to bring in a coach that knew firsthand about Sanduskys shower sins and did nothing to stop it? We are gonna riot.

Suck for 20 years straight and then show 1 hint of being a winning program again??
We are gonna pack Neyland 100,000 deep for every single home game and be THE hardest place to win a game in college football. Its in our blood. I loved Orange before i was old enough to spell the word "orange". Never stopped watching, never stopped caring, never even considered any team BUT Tennessee. I love our crazy fanbase. People just like me.
Preach!!! 🧡🧡🧡

He’s been designated as an analyst that can go on the road since they changed the rule. It does require an on-field coach to stay. I could see Ekeler leaving, but then we have an open issue with STs. Nebraska is keen to poach him precisely because Frost’s attempt to cover it with an analyst bombed during his tenure.
