Recruiting Football Talk VIII

Lol yes. Ted Turner was throwing money around. I’m not so blinded by fandom that I can’t see how bad the system is.
Not sure why you think it’s so bad. Major market teams spending tons of money have been bad for extended periods (Yankees, Mets, Philly, LA, San Fran, Boston, Chicago, Washington). Small market teams have been good for regular periods (KC, Houston, Tampa). Other small market teams have been intermittently good. The World Series winner is usually different because baseball is a weird sport.

Sure, more $$$ generally gives a team a better shot to be regularly competitive and make the playoffs, but it’s not a foregone conclusion that those teams will win.

Happened to be in Nashville seeing family.

Thought going to see the game at Vandy would be fun and cheap. Surely tickets would be less than $20....nope sold out and cheapest nosebleeds are $116. Courtside $400+.

What alternative universe is this?
It’s that way every year. You have to buy them as soon as they go on sale. Same thing for Kentucky fans. Me and my boys will be there rocking the Pantone 151 loud and proud.

I miss Ted and his free spending. Braves need a billionaire owner not afraid to spend cash. Effin' AA trying to get under the luxury tax is killing any hopes of a WS.

I tell ya. Some of you 'always have to be right'ers, have done a number on the RF. Chasing away @Glitch , tsk tsk.

Must be miserable, single guys.

Any of us married guys wanted to argue, we likely have a willing participant 24/7.

"If I wanted to argue, I'd call my wife."

I would rather watch "The View" than argue with strangers (or the wife).

Certainly true for MLB which is why I stopped watching long ago.

That's because you have crushes on Whoopie Goldberg and Joy Behar.

Have y’all heard yet who’s calling the Vandy game? Can you believe it? Once again we are getting screwed.

Also I’d appreciate anyone letting me know who’s calling the Vandy game.

If i use a drag racing analogy, if I have double the money of my competitor, I will be able to buy much better parts to make my car faster than he can. If I am dumb, and don’t buy the correct combination of parts, it doesn’t take away the fact that I had a huge advantage of being able to buy better parts than he could buy.

You still have to put the team together and be good at what you do, much like in todays college football landscape. But that doesn’t negate the fact that more money to spend is an advantage

If y’all really believe that baseballs system is fair, and all you have to do is make the most of what money you have, then I don’t ever want to see any of you complain that we “couldn’t” spend as much money as an Ohio state for our football roster.

Who complains about spending money like Ohio State does? Only one I ever see complaining is @Weezer about spending money on players.
