I don’t disagree with anything you said, but that isn’t really the debate. The debate is if the system is very advantageous for the big money teams, and it is absolutely advantageous to them even if their organization makes poor decisions.

If organization A and organization B have equal GMs and personnel executives, but organization A has $200m a year more to spend, organization A has a clear advantage.

Unless your team is absolutely incredible, this is how it works. And it’s why coaches who win more than they lose are paid handsomely.

Yes it was embarrassing. We are supposed to be an elite defensive team. They made our defense look bad. We shot better than them from the field and from 3. Yet we lost to an unranked Vandy team where the kenpom ratings gap was gigantic.

This doesn’t tank the season or mean anything is over. But you trying to put some positive spin on this loss is insane. We lost to an inferior team. And yes it was embarrassing. We will likely fall out of the top 10 now.

My point is that if your goal is to win a World Series, I don’t think the mlb system more heavily favors those teams. The seasons are too long and too weird.

If the goal is regular sustained success, then yes, it’s totally unfair to Milwaukee or Seattle or whoever.

That’s the beauty of sports. Rankings don’t mean anything between the lines.

Me saying it’s not embarrassing isn’t a positive spin. It’s simply me not crashing out thinking it’s embarrassing to lose by 1 point on the road to a rival that is a tournament team. Nothing more, nothing less.

That is not me saying it’s a *good* loss. But an embarrassing loss would’ve been losing to Norfolk St or WCU.

52nd at KenPom is not gigantic. That was only the 4th team to score 70+ points this year. When you play 40+ games, it happens. I swear some of you didn’t compete.
