Coaching salaries are unsustainable. One school can spend $30m for coaches while some only $3m.

What they want is to pay players as little as possible... to gain control over players and teams with enforceable rules... allow the leadership of the NCAA to pick winners and losers and how seasons flow.

He isn’t wrong that there needs to be some semblance of competitive balance, but as you said, his motivation for saying it isn’t pure.

Allar?! You have to only be looking at win totals to have him anywhere near top 10.

Vols410 has him at 1.

He has 53 TDs to 10 INTs in his career. Now add in the fact that their WRs are meh and have been meh.

He’s been throwing to a TE.

So yes, I’m impressed.
He's not good enough to throw to WR. He's a game manager at best, but more often a liability. They made it to the semis despite him, not because of him. I'd struggle to put him in the top 20, let alone top 10.

My opinion of our 2025 team is somehow worse than the opinions of people that don’t like us.

I may need to step back gain some perspective.
You're not wrong...we will have some real easily identifiable issues which will have to be worked around in order to maintain our trajectory.

We could be better of some of the talented guys in key spots on both sides of the ball...especially Nico...REALLY step up and improve dramatically, and the transfers we get really play well.

We will struggle if many those guys stay "meh", and the staff do not figure out a way to squeeze every drop of quality production out of the roster.

I really don't know what to expect, but it wouldn't surprise me for us to be overall better...but...it also will not surprise me to be a little worse.

Yeah I was initially optimistic NIL made the playing field more level, after years of only a handful of teams dominating. I still think it lifted many long dormant programs like Tennessee and Miami. But after watching the juggernaut of Ohio State rip through the playoffs and realizing how much more money they have to spend than we do, it made me think like you that it’s just replaced one group of dominant teams with another.

I’d share your concerns on the MLB, but baseball is so quirky as a sport that even a mid-tier team can get hot at the right time and still win it all, even without an elite payroll. The Braves did it in 2021. I just don’t think football works like that as a sport. You have to have the elite players and, if you have them, you are almost guaranteed to win big.
Nobody is beating the Dodgers unless a freak nightmare rash of horrible injuries water them down.
