Recruiting Football Talk VIII

Wasnt it what kept him sidelined a great deal before the final title run?
Had neck surgery and missed his last season in Indy. The very last season of his career, he missed multiple games due to a myriad of injuries, neck/shoulder/arm, being one of them, which affected his performance GREATLY. Also dealt with planter fasciitis and hip injury that last season, if my memory serves.

Damn FanDuel on smoking something. Did Arch go around making love with all the media outlets?

This is Travis Hunter level ********.

It’s his last name. If he weren’t a manning, he wouldn’t be sniffing the top 25. The few times I’ve watched him I’ve been impressed but I haven’t been blown away enough to say he’s the 2nd best in the country.

Meh...this whole mess has done nothing but traded one set of dominant spending ***holes for another.

This system is totally stupid and demoralizing...I love the Tennessee Vols, but this is going to be like MLB and I hate it.

Yeah I was initially optimistic NIL made the playing field more level, after years of only a handful of teams dominating. I still think it lifted many long dormant programs like Tennessee and Miami. But after watching the juggernaut of Ohio State rip through the playoffs and realizing how much more money they have to spend than we do, it made me think like you that it’s just replaced one group of dominant teams with another.

I’d share your concerns on the MLB, but baseball is so quirky as a sport that even a mid-tier team can get hot at the right time and still win it all, even without an elite payroll. The Braves did it in 2021. I just don’t think football works like that as a sport. You have to have the elite players and, if you have them, you are almost guaranteed to win big.

Coaching salaries are unsustainable. One school can spend $30m for coaches while some only $3m.

What they want is to pay players as little as possible... to gain control over players and teams with enforceable rules... allow the leadership of the NCAA to pick winners and losers and how seasons flow.

@butchna @Cosmo Kramer

You got your coach Ben Johnson took the Bears job , congrats..
The one I wanted! No sure thing, but swing big on innovation nets no regrets. Was talking myself down to hoping for Monken if this didn’t happen. Lived through Meh McCarthy March here in DFW.

Can’t tell if meant to be blue font or not.

DL was not best in country. That likely belongs to OSU.

Jeanty was best RB in country.

Will be hard to keep Vols from winning 10 again next year. At some point you gotta trust Heup, no?
All of the other teams on our schedule will improve but we will be worse.

-half of volnation

To me, the baseball argument isn’t that it can’t be done with a smaller payroll, just that having more money to spend is a huge advantage. Now you still can’t make dumb decisions with the money, but it is a big advantage.
