No chance IMO. The Michigan game is far too important for them. Also no way to make the players lay down in that game. Michigan just played way over their heads and beat them.Tinfoil hat a bit but, I think Ohio State threw the Michigan game.
With a loss in Big 10 they would have likely still been where they ended up, but without playing in the Big 10 title game they gained an extra week and also gained more footage on Oregon.
Something changed majorly in those 3 weeks between November 30th and December 21st. Hosting a playoff game was more $$$ to the school, playing an extra game in the playoffs was more $$$ to the school and then obviously winning it all was more $$$ to the school.
Beating Michigan and losing in championship game means at best the 5 seed and still hosting anyway BUT less time to implement new plays/schemes etc. winning the big 10 championship might have been an "easier" path but was also less in their control. They would have had to beat Oregon without implementing anything new and then even though they would have had a month to prepare for playoffs (had they won) there was the distraction of Christmas break.
Not to mention the noise losing to Michigan created to help use for motivation for the players.
We've got some guys still playing thru injuries. Don't just assume they're 100% healthy because they're on the court. These guys are giving everything they have for Barnes dudeWatched it on DVR. Lanier looked good. Gainey is becoming a very dependable contributor. Liked Okpara this game. Would love to see Igor making more shots. He has potential, but not playing great yet.
Good luck Titans fans. Not sure about this Brinker dude.
There are obviously a bunch of coordinators that have failed, but if you must go the route of someone with head coach experience, then it will be a re-tread. With NFL contracts, guys just usually don't move from one HC job to another unless they have a bad run and are fired.I'd love to see the stats on hiring a coordinator with no HC experience to be your HC. The 2 Lions coordinators getting HC jobs. It doesn't seem to me that the coordinator job is all that similar to HC. So much of HC has nothing to do with x/o. I'd hire someone who's had practice managing an organization, motivating, juggling the non-football time demands of a HC job while still keeping the football side rolling.
