Recruiting Football Talk VIII

Will Eberflus be able to use Micah like Zim and Quinn did in their defensive schemes?
He’s not an attacking type DC. With Indy he had some hawkish athletes at Edge and didn’t use them aggressively. With the Bears, he wasn’t gifted similarly but one wonders if some had more alpha than what he asks in that Lovie Smith style cover two. But he’s also never had a force of nature like Parsons. I think he’s a good DC, but more bend/break style. Mebbe he learned what doesn’t work work in Chicago.

Good luck, my prediction is 12% increase from current salary and make sure you don’t miss out on any annual performance incentives/ bonuses.

They know what you make but they also know what you bring to the table.

12% and I would be flipping the table over 😅🤣

This is a really big jump promotion. Major corporate exposure (we are a MNC corporation to give an idea of our size). I also think they can save on my replacement, as I'm on the higher end of my current role range I believe. This will be a part of my negotiation of course.

From what I'm hearing, internal candidates tend to get screwed over in promotions and their new salary. I'm going to have to bring a strong local market argument.

And if they want to deeply lowball me, I also know plenty of jobs elsewhere in my current role and area that pay just a bit less than this new position would offer. But I tend to be a loyal employee and would prefer to grow in a new role. But I'm not going to go in scared or take the job with a low offer either. I'll walk if that's how I'm valued by them. Because I know I can do better than the previous person. Even she said that. But I hope it doesn't come to that.

Do you have the experience that the previous two people do at that time of their career?
I don't know of the person 2 back. But the previous girl had 2 more yrs of experience (at my current level - she had no prior experience at the level I'm applying for).
But not at this company, so that's not a straight correlation either.

I know plenty of things already, due to my current role, that she never understood and that limited her scope and visibility. No masters degree. No professional certifications. Less technical skills and ability. But I will say she was politically savvy and well, a nice younger girl that knew how to work folks. But, secretly she'd ask me basic accounting advice. Not that I'd ever throw her under the bus, but...

Research also shows experience tends to wash out within 18 months. It can be very shortsighted unless the experience gap is massive and internal.

We'll see. I'll be fine either way. Just need to start selling all my bitcoins 😅

Sorry all for all of the career talk, but a quick follow-up question for the moran braintrust:

Assuming there's some version of an interview/sitdown - how does that go? I'd assume it's something smelling like an interview, but far less formal and just...different. For those with experience, please share.

Vols a 4.5pt favorite tomorrow over Florida.

Interesting line considering we've dropped 3 of our last 4 and I think home court advantage is typically 3pts? So despite a rematch over a team that beat us by 30, ranked higher, and having lost 3 of 4 recently, Vegas still thinks we're a point better than them?

I'll take it. Vegas don't think these Vols can be kept down forever.

Internal is super informal. Usually they're making sure they'd like working with you or clearing up any questions about your ability to do the new job. Maybe in the accounting and finance world yall are more stuffy, but I've never had a super formal internal interview. They laughed hysterically when I dressed up for my first one.
