If it's this obvious then why did almost every NBA player who played against the two in their prime say Kobe was better?



I'll give you this. LeBron is an amazing statistical player. If box scores are your thing he'll fill it up like nobody outside of Jokic. But last I checked basketball is about winning and LeBron is no where close to the winner Kobe was. That's what the players notice. They know Kobe plays a winning brand of basketball while LeBron plays a style good for putting up individual stats. And for the record, even if you want to dismiss Kobe's 3 rings alongside Shaq, there's the two he won with Gasol that are more impressive than anything LeBron has done.

Pau Gasol was essentially on the same level as Chris Bosh and Kevin Love before he joined Kobe. And with a guy who was the same caliber as LeBron's 3rd option Kobe won back to back rings. LeBron has never won a championship with a sidekick of Gasol's caliber. He's always had far better sidekicks and in most cases had a Gasol level player as his 3rd option in Miami and Cleveland.

If we're playing fantasy basketball then give me LeBron. But if we're playing real basketball I'm taking Kobe all day everyday. He was easily the better basketball player. And his peers knew it which is why they always rated Kobe above LeBron.
