Where is the pain?

I used to have huge painful knots underneath my shoulder blades pretty much all the time. Was foam-rolling and rolling on a lacrosse ball multiple times per day to try and get any form of relief.

But I stopped getting them after just a couple of months of going to the gym 3-4x per week. Because of that I go pretty hard on back exercises to keep the pain from coming back. Low cable rows, T-bar rows, bent-over rows, etc. I still get those knots occasionally but they go away pretty quickly now.
Middle back. I get knots in my upper back but this doesn’t seem related to it. It’ll just be one awkward movement, feel a pop and then within minutes I can hardly move

Hi VN fam. I’ve been less active than normal lately. I love VN and while I don’t post a lot, I’m usually active in reading the board and “liking” posts.

We live in the mid-state. My wife and I have a 4 year old boy. We just had a second boy in early January (which I proudly posted about a month ago - and I thank you all for the likes and well wishes associated to that post). Wife and kids are doing great.

However… to get to the heart of this post… I have a lump on my skull (on the bone) that has come about very randomly and fairly abruptly. Since the arrival of our son in January, I’ve had several appointments in rapid succession including X-ray and full head/skull MRI. MRI showed all soft tissue to be in good shape and normal/healthy (no brain tumors - which is obviously great news). However, I have a “Full Body Nuclear Bone Scan” later this week and a meeting with Tennessee Oncology next week. There is a chance this is a benign bone tumor. There is also apparently plausible concern this is a rare metastasized bone cancer (I am hopeful as I feel healthy otherwise - I exercise regularly and have no other noticeable issues with my body).

Asking you all for positive thoughts and prayers over the next week or two as my family gains clarity on this. Not as much for me in the sense that it’s all about me… but more-so from the perspective of how this could impact my sons. Young kids need their parents.

I am a believer and Daniel 3:16-18 comes to mind right now. We are called to have an “Even if…” faith. When we are thrown into the furnace, we know God can deliver us. But “even if…” He is still God. And God is good, even when it’s beyond our understanding.

We remain positive and encouraged. But praying for a benign situation and many more years of VN activity. Asking you all for the same.

Definitely will pray and send those positive vibes your way. Really hope you get the best possible news.

I don't know man. I didn't like it either, but seeing something I don't like on the TV doesn't mean everything I love is being replaced. I guess if I watched a lot of 24 hour news networks, listened to talk radio, and followed folks online who make money off of scaring folks...then that halftime show and a lot of other things would drive me nuts. Fortunately I just pay attention to the actual things I experience in real life. My brother-in-law is obsessed with that stuff to the point that he's a pretty miserable person at times...yet he's never personally experienced any of the things he's worried about.
I was being sarcastic...sorry I didn't make that more clear.

That thing by itself is nothing...I agree...but it's everything that has happened over the last 15-20 years.

I'm not gonna argue about it though...like I said, I am tired of talking.

Anyone else deal with back pain? About once a year I’ll just randomly have my back lock up with pretty bad pain and can’t do anything. Goes away on its own after a couple days

Is it worth going to the hospital for it?
Do the reverse hyper workout. SInce I've started implementing it, my back is pretty solid.

Ever tried getting a massage for it?
Once.........

Someone gave my wife and I got couples massage session for an anniversary present. That's the only time I've had a "hands on massage". It was kind of weird. Me and my wife in a dark room, laying across from each other in our underwear, staring in each other's eyes while soft music plays, and 2 strangers in the room, rubbing on us. It was right after lunch and I could smell Taco Bell on their breath. 🤣 (it was a 3 : 1 ratio, so it should have been like a fantasy day for me, but it was just awkward.)

Anyways......

I've been to 3 difference chiropractors over the past 25+ years and they've all had a "traction machine" (I think that's what they called it). It worked kind of like a massage. It would roll up and down the back and hips. They also had the "electric shocker". They'd put the pads all over my back and sit the machine close enough where I could control the pulse and current of it. I slipped and cranked it all the way up one time and flopped around like a big smallmouth....I almost fell off the table.

I'd look online for a chiropractor with good reviews and make an appointment. The ones I went to, gave me a free consultation and were willing to help me on the billing. The most I paid was $30 per visit.

I used to really enjoy going to Gatlinberg back in the 70's and 80's. But it just isn't the same any more to me because it has lost much of its local roots from all the arts and crafts folks etc who were pushed out to make room for many corporate chain businesses etc. We still go at least once a year but pick our spots carefully.

Talk to your PCP. They can arrange for a CT or MRI.
