Recruiting Football Talk VIII

What a slimeball move by Rickey Gibson and “his team”. To agree to a deal, and then crawfish on it when a teammate gets hurt, because you believe you can extort your team for more.
Honestly facts, I wish him nothing but the worst if he leaves, that is a real pos move to pull. Not just on the coaches, but on his brothers. Theyre supposed to be his brothers and he just stabs them in the back like that

It's hilarious how some individuals still think players are going to be loyal to their team and teammates in the NIL era.🤣🤣🤣

I really wish we would do contracts for these players. Make them sign a deal and if they leave the money is void or they have to pay a buyout, or the team that they sign with has to pay the buyout

Big win yesterday for us, but what’s even bigger is that uf and isu lost yesterday. If we can win out in the regular season, and have houston drop another game, we should have the 1 seed locked down
I honestly think we just need to win out to be a one seed. However that is easier said than done. Bama then Ole Miss. Would be nice if we got hot shooting the ball to finish the season heading into postseason.

Happy Wednesday. This one may have been for me.

February 26, 2025: You may feel like you have been wounded beyond repair, but God has not forsaken you. The Lord is with you to bring you through even the most difficult of times. His love for you will never fail. Psalm 34:17-19 The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles. The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves such as have a contrite spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all.

Going to need to be hotter against Bama. Our D will slow them down some, but they go on runs that can hurt us. Ole Miss can be beat with strong D and just OK shooting.

All of it is subject to the officiating - which is horrendous. It is shameful how bad it is in general across the spectrum of basketball. They watch guys take 3-4 steps or carry the ball - no call. They watch guys get hammered and grabbed within three feet of them - no call. Then if somebody drives the lane, throws up garbage and flops to the floor - foul. If somebody comes within a foot of a three pointer and the shooter flops - foul. Rebounder in position, gets shoved out of the way or out of bounds - no foul. Campers with tents in the lane for 10+ seconds - no call.

No question in my mind the refs will try to foul Okpara out of the game against Bama since he is the shot blocker that can cancel Sears driving the basket. Millic and Phillips will need to play well.

In this time of the NIL, I believe the Baseball team will be the least effected. So much more turnover in Football and Basketball and not so much in Baseball. Yes, Tennessee has added a few pieces each season but the loss of others were just players who wasn't going to cut the mustard here. Baseball players will portal to win, football and basketball players will portal for the money. Remember Chase Burns didn't leave for a bag, he left because he wanted to be a starter...

Teams are larger. Tennessee is enjoying riches, because its an everything school.

Other schools dont make it priority. May explain why our football team is 10 in cruitin' instead of 4 or 5.

Other schools may have x schollies, partial schollies, or not match the NIL. Also, think many of guys we are after weigh living around coeds, dorm, and clean gym versus living on road making $35K in Southeastern Missouri, in Feb, March, and April.

After research, more like $45K.

Our baseball team is also well compensated. NIL really only affects them (and us in this way) in a positive manner. Other programs hate us bc we have deep pockets.

I'm talking about turnover of the key players. Name another key baseball player that has threatened to portal out? The ones that left this past off-season were individuals who was never going to see the field. I understand the WR's that portaled out weren't difference makers but they played and as @Weezer and @Jackcrevol say where are the portal upgrades...

@butchna

Reading where Omar Norman-Lott is shooting up draft boards even before the Combine. Could be a steal in the draft for a team.. also viewed where Jeanty predicted to Raiders and Hampton getting drafted by Cowboys at #12.

Bo got limited reps his first 2 seasons playing behind some dude named [checks notes] Marcus Allen.

Over the next 2 seasons he got 300 attempts and ran for almost 1700 yds, at 5.5 ypc clip.

He then suffered a one time freak injury, and never played again. And was never the same on the diamond.

We’ll never know what type of NFL player he would have been. But he was a better ball player prior to injury than Deion ever was.
Bo doesn't get hurt he may have gone down as the best athlete ever. Even though it pains me to say it I think that title goes to Herschel Walker, don't talk to me about stats, he was simply a freak of nature I saw it with my own eyes.
