Recruiting Football Talk VIII

NFL has played Thursday night games since 2006. Rather watch NFL on Thursday instead of Bowling Green vs Toledo.
Am I mistaken or didn't they make Thursday night games ones you had to pay for at one point. Looks like they are on NBC, but I swore it was a pay wall at one point. I have always had cable and even pay for espn, but I will never buy Sunday ticket.

Just realized no college football tonight because of the NFL kickoff...

Am I the only one that hates the NFL trying to play games outside Sunday/Monday night? I have always felt like Thursday, Friday and Saturday should be for HS and college football only.
Just wait. I saw a report. The NFL is trying to move up to open before Labor day and taking those days away too.

They had them on Amazon Prime, but you could also stream them on twitch( I'm not sure most people knew that though)

I think they are on Amazon Prime?

Sunday Ticket is a waste of money, the team I follow plays on the FOX Game of the Week every week or Sunday Night .

I like Alex Golesh as much as the next guy; but, some of you are the biggest baby-back's around.
I think fans get too caught up is schemes. I like Heup's scheme and he is real good at creating favorable matchups but winning is mostly about one thing, talent.
A coach has to get it, develop it, and use it correctly to win. In the end it's about the Jimmies and the Joes. ff Golesh did go to FU he would have to out recruit and out coach us to beat us. The likes of Kirby and Nick have seen what Huep can do in terms of using and developing talent. Now we are starting to recruit like the big boys and that really scares them.

I hate NC State.

the line was -4.5 as recent as last week, and it has moved to -9.5 on the popular apps. You may still get 8.5 or 9 some places.

It takes a lot of money to move lines past 6, 6.5, 7, 7.5 and 9
That's why I thought it might get to -9.5 by kickoff, but not this quick. I'm curious to see what it does Saturday afternoon.

I don't care if they move up, I just don't really like that they want to take Thursday night or Friday night from college/HS.

Also as pointed out earlier the NFL is trying to milk the fans too much...games on Prime TV, or only on Peacock streaming is a terrible idea. I've always thought the "over the air" stations are part of why the numbers for viewership has been as good as it has for football.

I just enjoy college football I guess, I'd rather watch SMU vs BYU or Bowling Green vs Toledo or any MWC or sunbelt matchup than the NFL outside Titans games.

I don't mind it for the playoffs, holidays or to open the season (so ya got 4 days of games) but in the regular season I'm not a fan and usually am watching whatever college game is on anyway.

I hate them too. I don't watch a lot of NFL but the Thursday night games always suck.

Yep, that was the game where it took good fortune (getting the PI call, even though it was a good call, on the road). I felt sure we had let that first one get away and frankly after that game I never expected '98 to go the way it did.

The Arky game is the one remembered for us being "lucky" but in fact it was only a blown call on rules that even resulted in us being behind at the end. Billy Ratlliff would have had to force Stoerner to "stumble & fumble" if the refs had made the correct call on bad punt snap they kicked out of their own end zone at the 3:00 mark. By the rule, it should have been 1st and goal inside their 5 yard line (half the distance to the goal from where the illegal kick took place), not a safety as the ref called it. With roughly 2 minutes remaining, Ark would have had to try to drive for a game tying field goal or game winning TD. But winning the way we did sure as heck made for a lot more drama in a championship season. 😁

Yep, and we actually got the apology letter on that call a few days later. NOT an opinion piece.
