Our punting has been really poor and we aren’t good at all on kickoff return

Brooks is averaging 43.6 a kick & Doyle is averaging 41.4 a kick

Puts both in the top 75 for punting average in the entire country, puts Brooks in the top 35. Not "great" and there is room for improvement, but hardly "really poor"

Kickoff return has zero to do with kicking, but we've not had great KO returns.

Callaway's 17.6 a punt return has him in the top 3 though in the country, he's only had 8 returns though.

I took kicking to mean FG kicking and Kick offs which both have been good this year.

Punting has been poor especially with us being use to having great punters. I wonder why Joe Doyle lost his job to Paxton Brooks.

Kickoff return is 1/5 of the kicking game. Surely you consider that part of the “kicking game”

Our punting has been inconsistent and add the TO this last week it needs to get much better. Top 75 isn’t exactly flattering since there are only 130 teams out there.

I think Brooks has a stronger leg but he is less consistent than Doyle. Doyle is a much more accurate kicker. If we are kicking from around midfield I trust Doyle to be able to pin the opponent. Not sure if any teams use a two punter system.

Not anymore. You get the ball on a 25 every time. A good kick off return might get you 5-10 yards. A bad kickoff return gets you to the 25 worst case.

Our punting has been really poor when it comes to pinning teams deep. I don’t recall any punts inside the 10 all year. Heck in fact I can’t think of any inside the 20. Surely there are some but I don’t recall

Its certainly less important than before but there should at least be a threat of getting past the 25. We just don’t have that at all this season

And we aren’t getting to the 25 btw

Wow...Clemson isn't original at anything are they?

Trey makes the comment and it basically becomes viral, then TN Football drops a video on the 9th and now just 3 days later Clemson nearly ripped off the TN video frame by frame...
Nope. They stole basically everything from auburn as far as university layout

Our FG kicking has been outstanding. KO coverage pretty good.

Punting meh.
KO return is going to be a thing of the past anyway. Take it guaranteed on the 25 and call it a day. In fact, we should just put anybody back there that can catch. Put your actual returners as up men for short kicks and squibs if they happen.

Florida will be in the SECCG....UGA will crap the bed against Auburn.

I don't think that's going to happen...

Georgia Defense is playing lights out right now. 5th in Total Defense (260.3 TYPG), 2nd in Scoring Defense (10.1 PPG), 4th in Rushing Defense (74.6 RYPG), 17th in Passing Defense (185.8 PYPG)... also they're 9th in Time of Possession at 34 MPG. Auburn better come out guns blazing or they'll be out of the game early.

Just finished up a hunting trip with my dad this past weekend. Cherish every one of those times and take a minute to soak it all in. As many of you recall, last year my dad, 81, rolled his 4-wheeler over on top of him and broke 8 ribs. He's doing fine now but it really hit home to me.
Good stuff brother! Relish the memories. My last hunting trip was with my dad elk hunting in Wyoming, pack in trip, had a blast and both of us tagged out. He died the next year in 2012. I was actually bow hunting at the time, and have only been a handful of times since. Just isn’t the same.

KO coverage has been elite.

You think Georgia fans have reconsidered their thoughts on Chaney leaving. Great defense. Mediocre offense full of five stars.

Our Special Teams being harped on is laughable, seriously.

8th in Blocked Kicks (3)
2nd in Blocked Kicks allowed (only 1) there's 42 teams with 0 and then we're in the 2nd tier at 1
4th in Blocked Punts (2)
2nd in Blocked Punts allowed (only 1) there's 83 teams with 0 and then we're in the 2nd tier at 1
4th in KR defense allowing 15.57 with 0 TDs given up, 109 KO ret yards against on 7 returns we've had 38 touchbacks
73rd in KR Yards at 20.25 (our only real weak point, 1st is averaging 30.53 a return)
56th in PR defense allowing 6.67 with 0 TDs given up, 60 returns yards on 9 returns we've had 3 touchbacks 38 punts total
4th in PR as a team averaging 20.18 with 3 TDs
12th in FG% 19 - 21 for .905 by Brent
4th in FGs per game with 1.9

If we want to see improvement on special teams it really comes down to kickoff returns & punt return defense/coverage more than anything else. And I think part of that is just us lacking great depth and team speed.
