But that kind of thinking is what escalated the helmet swing in the first place. Rudolph wasn't being malicious when he was using Garrett's helmet to try to get him off himself, but Garrett interpreted it that way and thought in the moment he was justified in doing anything at all to Rudolph. If I had been on the field and saw that, I would've been trying to harm Garrett for life. He deserved anything he would've received. I would'be lost it and been trying to smash his brains out.
let's also not forget that the hit Garrett made on the QB...in basically a completely meaningless play, was they type of hit that has resulting in roughing the passer...the kind where you wrap up, and fall, wiht all your weight on the QB....so that's another dirty-ish type play the browns made against the steelers during that game....and there was NO reason for MG to go that hard at that QB at that point int he game...could have definitely completed the sack or the hit w/out the extra...and that's how this whole thing REALLY gets avoided.I think there's a lot of nuance here, and addressing Rudolph's role in the incident isn't victim blaming. He does have a role, and should be punished accordingly. His punishment just isn't on the same level as Garrett's. Which, I know you understand, but maybe others aren't picking up on.
browns or bengals? No. The Steelers are dirty. The fact they get away with half of what they do without being destroyed by the media is baffling to me. The cheap shot on Carson Palmer, Joey Porter being able to get away with he could as a coach ( just Joey Porter in general), can't mention Shazier because of the severity of his injury he sustained lowering his helmet which he did many times before, and the list goes on.
I am pretty familiar with AState program. Drink benefited from Freeze, Malzahan, and Harsin combo as far as learning experience and culture. He is a home grown coach, but the concern would be the single year of experience as a coach. His best move would probably be to stay at AppSt for a couple more years. Arkansas would be a big gamble for him. It will be a difficult rebuildHaving lived in that state a dozen years - I would agree completely. Based on his resume and offenses, Drink would be good choice. He's used to lesser programs and making lemonade out of lemons. The HC there will not be able to do what the heavyweights do in that division. It's going to need to be different and quirky.
during a fight, w/out warning, not involved in an actual football play, w/no helment..........I’m not trolling. The double hand shoved should be trolling.
My goodness, a guy was “double hand shoved” from behind on a football field.
Could you imagine the vile display of physicality on a football field?
Like I said, a terrible take. The two are nothing a like, using this logic you could say that punching a guy has a similiar chance to kill someone than hitting someone with a car going 90. They are NOTHING alike.I’m not saying they are the same thing. I’m saying the action of punching could result in the same thing happening to Rudolph. He could take the punch like a champ(he took the helmet like a champ), he could get knock out cold, he could end up in a wheel chair, he could have died.
Dude pushed me... so I burned his villageImo, Garrett knew the play was over. But here's the thing, idc who started it. I expect shoving, wrestling and even the occasional fight.
But you absolutely DO NOT attempt to club someone in the head with a freaking blunt object!
Folks arguing that if Rudolph started the wrestling on the ground, somehow that makes Garrett less guilty...
I just can't even grasp that outlook.
eh. i think Tomlin gets more crap than he should, especially this year. and while i get that they're missing some big time offensive weapons.......the one thing about the coaching that does get to me is the, what seems like, inordinate amount of defensive busts, especially in the secondary. it's just not very good....and it's not always because of personnel. the 2nd TD Cleveland scored, the one landry caught......complete bust by PIT secondary. should never happen in the NFL.
as for Cam, as a panther fan, i'm torn. i've been a big Cam defender over the course of his career, and i can only say it was a lot easier to defend him when he didn't suck out lout. and the last 10 games he's played...he's been bad.
and the worry is here that if he's not back physically where he can use his legs...at least some...then there's real concern about his future as a pure pocket passer....which isn't his strongest suit.
and for PIT, i don't see the point in seeing one big, relatively athletic guy retiring, and replacing him with an albeit younger, but also aging and equally injury riddled, version of big ben.
i know this...i don't htink the Steelers or the Panthers have the QB of the future currently on either roster.
