MR's OL took MG to the ground, at which point, it again should have been over, but Pouncey decided to punch and kick MG in the head while he was being held down. Another egregious act IMO.

So how you get MG as the "sole instigator" and MR blameless out of all that is beyond me. MG absolutely committed the worst act, but that in no way exonerates or justifies the actions others, including MR, took. I'm sorry, but I think asserting that is absurd.

Because he hit him late...legal or not, and then just dead weight laid there on him, causing MR to freak out and start grabbing at him...that is why.

I really hate that crap...dudes that do that deserve whatever they get...Even if they are Vols I feel that way.

I have to say...seeing these kind of make me agree with Weezer a little bit more..but these don't show the part where MG hit him and then just laid on him.

MR shouldn't be playing QB in the NFL if getting tackled makes him freak out. You continue to ignore he broke rules other players follow. He's not special. He doesn't get to decide which rules apply or don't apply to him. He should be fined for his actions, IMO. A fine separate from the team fine.

I watched it live and my first thought was “what is MR doing??” It was obvious he was trying to rip MGs helmet off. Now, I don’t defend Garrett’s actions after the fact either.

I didn't see it live, I watched it this morning, and from what I saw he took umbrage at MG just doing that thing defensive guys do where they just lay on you, holding you down..I hate that crap.

Not illegal or harmful. Annoying maybe, but that's about it. MR was the first to lose his cool. Then MG erupted and took things to a heinous level.

Garret ripped his helmet off...I don't know about you, but I would have went after him too...the nut shot crap was puss though.

That one photo, where it looks as if MR is punching MG in the nuts, makes me wonder if that's what caused MG to start swinging the helmet as it looks to be pre-swing. In no way does it justify MG's actions, but if it's as it appears, that may have been the triggering event that sparked it going way too far.

And I say may. Pure speculation.
