BasketVOLs gonna be pretty solid I think.

You've got 2 big time freshmen that should just continue to get better and better as they play more. 4 big time upperclassmen that have returned and stepped up their production (especially Pons). And a few other solid bodies that when called upon can get you good minutes on both sides of the court.

Hope Kent starts contributing more, especially on the glass and on the defensive side. To be as big as he is he's not helped us much, you know he should be in good shape considering he's not missed a ton of workouts this past off-season.

Statistically

Pass offense: Missouri

Pass defense: Missouri

Rush offense: Missouri

Rush defense: Missouri

Home field: Missouri

Confidence and momentum: Tennessee

I like the fact Coach Pruitt is very familiar with Bryant having prepared and schemed for him in the Sugar Bowl semi final game.

Need more people to step up and score because teams will start adjusting to what we do well and itll be more diifficult.
oh i know, but we're getting good minutes offensively from several guys, so that helps....it has to continue, especially for guys like Pons....it can't be all Bowden and Turner....JJJ will get better as the season goes, and our big guy, Nk...whatever his name is, he's got potential, and fulkerson has been good so far.

we're gonna struggle against teams that have a true inside presence. our "bigs" will get in to foul trouble, and we'll have to be able to shoot our way of some games, or we'll drop some, and i'd expect that will happen, especially once we get in to conf play.

but the jump shooting is a good sign....we have to be able to do that to bring defenses out to guard us. if there's a silver lining, we're athletic enough to where we can manufacture some semblance of an inside game, which can help the inside/out game.

and for this team, it's gonna be all about defense....getting in to passing lanes and denying the ball inside more so than just guarding inside.

nothing earth shattering in any of that, but i liked what i saw the other night, against what many thought was a team that should cause us problems.....

He did come out of nowhere vs Georgia to lead the Tide to a dramatic come from behind win. It was more narrative than anything. The usurper of Hurts and all the coverage that comes with being the team of the decade. He does show a great deal of Russell Wilson talents so there is definitely potential on the next level. He throws an incredible deep ball right on stride.
Like I said...good QB and I hate it for him. I wonder if TL went down if the weeping and wailing would reach this level of Shakespearean-Grantland Rice melodrama?

Your saying most of the money being bet is placed on Mizzou, yet the opening morning line of -6 is already shaved down to -5? I looked on Bovada a little while ago, and it was -4.5. If this is true, then I think this is what Bruinvol called a reverse something (obviously I don’t gamble). This is Vegas saying that although the money is coming in on Mizzou, we still think TN wins and therefore they change the line the opposite of where the money is being bet. Is that right, @BruinVol?

One of the best things about the offshore sites are that you can look for arbitrage - Not all sites are going to consistently have the same odds. I use VegasInsiders and OddsShark to keep an eye on the markets. I did see on VI that the game opened around a touchdown and the line immediately got bet down to 4-5 points. Bovada opened at 4, and now it's at 5 points. A lot of this you have to infer by keeping an eye on all of the books, but it looks like the Vegas line opened up way to high, and the market repriced it at 4-5 points. That range is where you seem to have the consensus at this point in time, with the exception of BetOnline where the line got back up to +6 for Tennessee, and now it back down to +5.5. That's an example of reverse line movement. It will be really interesting to see if resistance holds at +6 - If so that tells you that the sharps (and their models) see a lot of value of Tennessee in that spot.

He's not 100% and he's not the same dude he was at Clemson because the players around him are not as good. He is better than their other options, but his team still only scored 6 against Florida.

Gotta question his motivation as well. He's still a bit hobbled, Mizzou has lost 4 in a row, and he's got two weeks left as as collegiate player at a college that he has no real attachment to. And likely no bowl game (he should probably sit it out anyways).

I agree.....my concern is depth and how that will effect us in Feb/March.

overall, i think if you were goint to evaluate "intangibles" i would imagine we would lead in that category simply based on trajectory, and what is still attainable for us vs. them at the moment.

i feel a lot more confident in this game than i did a month ago. but the m.o. is the same for us.

we have to stop the run, and the running QB is a dynamic we haven't had to deal wtih too awful much this year, aside from KY, so i guess that's a good thing we got some of that in recently....though they went option football vs. what we'll see from Bryant as a runner.....who knows, maybe they try to incorporate some of that based on their film study???

either way, offensively, as has been the case pretty much all year, it's about the QB. again, i feel more confident than i did a month ago, but we have still turned it over at inopportune times, and have had drives stall in the red zone, and our run game has basically been just good enough to keep running it.

they've got to be a deflated bunch and i think if we can get up on them early, we could coast...the longer the game is a question....the harder it may be to pull it out.

i like us in this game though. we're healthy, rested....i'll say TN 27, MO 21.
