Vol Network belongs to Learfield IMG. IMG pays UT for broadcast rights (etc) and IMG sells to businesses packaged advertising opportunities with the various UT sports.
Check out Behind The Curve on Netflix. Are ppl are serious of this flat earth stuff. Sitting in the airport trying to work and random dude starts telling me how he flies to China once a month and the plane flies straight up and down.

These people are real, semi-organized, and so skeptical that half of them even think the other half are plants. Fascinating stuff in a sense and a great study of how far human skepticism and conspiracy theory groups can go.
Most believe that more or less everybody is being lied to. Either by some variant of the global elite, aliens, or that the only truth-knowers are hundreds of years deceased... Many of them think they’re prophets, though they aren’t crazy in every caseLet's work off of the assumption that I may never devote that kinda time to them
Why do they believe so many people, from places all around the globe, are lying to them?
I mean for what purpose?
That is the big question everyone wonders watching the documentary. All the proponents ever say is essentially how the powerful "they" are trying to keep "us" miseducated and ignorant, so they can control us easier. How, exactly, the roundness or flatness of the earth has one iota to do with that is beyond me. They are taking a very common argument against...certain controlling entities...and applying it to a quite benign and noncontrolling entity such as NASA.Let's work off of the assumption that I may never devote that kinda time to them

I don’t know all the ins and outs. Hidden caches of advanced civilization outside the edges of our map, hidden angel-races, giants, aliens or alien observers, the edges to the set of the Truman show, who knows. Anything possible is somehow probable. Some think that the flat earth has some kinda wormhole on each end that would spit a ship or aircraft out the opposing side of the map, ala Pac-Man. It’s a good week of YouTube wormholing if you have further curiosity...be carefulBut being lied to why?
For profit by big round earth poster makers? To trick them into sailing off the edge? Because underneath is where we hide all me lucky charms?
Edit: I see your last post now.

That’s what I can’t figure out. I love conspiracy theories, they’re fun. But I see no reason to lie about the shape of the earth lolBut being lied to why?

Yes, technically, their paycheck may come from IMG, but the Vol Network is so intertwined with UT athletics and the athletic department. Kesling is a director of broadcasting and has a university email address.
It’s all social media giving impressionable, irrational, and extremely disillusioned people a platform to a) express their mania, and b) access a virtual mob of their peers. Its created a really interesting online community of these marginalized people - sharing theories, “discoveries,” nuggets from insiders in the CIA, etc. That team mentality can be extremely influential on lonely people.Woah.
So back to that natural selection thingy...
A lot of those people think that nobody knows the truth. That either it’s all set up by God or a superior race to contain us, or it’s just flat - science missed. There’s many, many explanations for the whole thing. Go drop a YouTube comment or two and you’ll have an army of answers lolThat’s what I can’t figure out. I love conspiracy theories, they’re fun. And to think, when I'm lonely I just watch cable. It’s all social media giving impressionable, irrational, and extremely disillusioned people a platform to a) express their mania, and b) access a virtual mob of their peers. Basically, it’s the RF + tin foil.
