Can it be safely assumed that the lasting memory of JG won’t be anywhere close to the zip code of that sideline disappointment against Georgia Tech? Can we at least retire THAT tired narrative?
I’ve done a personal 180 on JG.

I had completely written him off. I had relegated his legacy to the dumpster. Said he would go down as the most disliked QB in Vols history.

I, like many others, could not have been more wrong.

I hope he comes back next year. He’s turned a corner, both emotionally and psychologically. I think he’ll have a big year.

Can the "we need a new O-line coach" stuff stop now? Even when Chaney and Pittman were here, it was still Chaney and Pittman. Just like it was at UGA and we now openly see how they have taken a step back with all that 4 and 5 star talent.

It's Chaney and Friend now. Sounds like a TV show, but is providing outstanding results on the field.
Damn, just pick someone, we gotta fire someone---it's Volnation and someone has to get fired. Just pick one and lets get the thread started

A great performance last night. I was fortunate enough to fly back with the guys last night post game and the energy and atmosphere this team and staff has created is truly amazing to witness. This team is a freight train moving at light speed...I don’t see anything stopping them from demolishing candy next week and then I really feel sorry for any team that has to face us in a bowl game.

All of this is making its way through the recruiting “networks” as well...expect a very strong finish.

Yesterday was awesome, but I CANNOT BELIEVE we ran the ball on the last drive instead of kneeling.

They showed Weinke on the sideline and he looked as shocked/perplexed as I felt.

I realize Pruitt is still learning, but Chaney has to know better there.

Small complaint, but if Jordan had fumbled there and Mizzou had turned it into a TD, pitchforks would have rightly been out

He’s from Alabama. He doesn’t math

I thought it was kind of funny when Cubelic interviewed him after the game. Asked Pruitt how excited he was to take this team to a bowl game or something like that and Pruitt just kind of hit him with a blank stare.
I know a lot of people and even VFLs were happy about a bowl, but I'm looking forward to the days when that isn't seen as an applaudable accomplishment. Maybe growing up during the prime Fulmer years spoiled me, but a bowl game should be a bare minimum.

Happy and proud for these kids that dealt with all of the nonsense in recent years regardless. THEY do deserve this accomplishment and applause.

SOON.

💯 Agreed. If @appyvol or others could share a story or two, it would also be much appreciated.
It was frustrating the way we just couldn't finish drives. Two blocked field goals, the fumbles, etc. Our fans showed up, they didn't outnumber us by much. Besides it being incredibly cold it was a fun game. The student section chanted for us to suck their tiger dick, but I mean that's kids and happens a lot of different places.

We make fun of their "hs" stadium, but it was actually really nice. Plenty of concession stands and bathrooms. The concourse was huge. They deserve better fan support than what the get, I was amazed how many of their fans left at halftime, poured out in droves.

The guys were pumped the whole game. JJ demanded the ball a few times, we were two rows up and could hear a little bit of the interactions. Trey and Quez came up to our section after the game and we're giving everyone high fives. It was overall a really cool experience.

Also F*** them and their cannon, it was right down from us and gave me a heart attack every time they scored. Also random was the Mizzou firetruck that drove around the stadium and sprayed their fans with water? It was freezing out there, made no sense.

Yes, We need to send film to the SEC officiating office about Mizzou targeting. It looks like that was scrOdom's game plan on D.

Hard hitting football I like it. Only the Jennings one was targeting and they probably wouldn’t of called it because Jennings ducked his head before contact lowering it into the defenders head.

Back in September I composed this post:

After observing JG this year, it has become apparent to me that even though he may possess certain physical gifts that can be honed through repetition, he lacks the innate, God-given cerebral talents necessary to be a productive QB. He seems to have no sense of athletic timing, nor does he have that uncanny, almost extrasensory knack for seeing things develop before they actually do. Two things which good QBs and Point Guards in basketball have. I don't suspect that the kid is uncoachable, I believe he's a victim of low football acumen and will never be better than fair-to-middling. You either have it, or you don't. In my opinion, he doesn't. It pains me disparage him because he seems to be a fine, upstanding young man.

JG has proven that I have no idea what I am talking about and I will glady dine on crow.

Man what a terrible take.

Saban with 1 loss, by 5 to LSU is a "botched season" but you want to hand Mullen a nod? He lost to LSU & Georgia, Auburn was the only top tier team Florida managed to beat. And Auburn isn't exactly elite since they lost to every top level team they faced except Oregon and will finish just 4-4 in the SEC.

No way you -can't- put Pruitt in the SEC COY debate, there will only be 4 teams with better records than 5-3 once the dust settles. LSU, Bama, Georgia, Florida. And UT will be the only SEC team to have faced at least 3 of the top 4 in the regular season.

1 for Bama only facing LSU
1 for Georgia only facing Florida
2 for LSU only facing Bama & Florida
2 for Florida only facing LSU & Georgia

UT will have faced Georgia, Florida, & Bama. We were picked 5th in the East and after we beat Vandy we'll finish 3rd in the East and 5th in the entire SEC at 5-3. Pruitt will for sure be getting votes.
Florida had a 3rd string basically QB all year...

let’s also not act like LSU and bama was all that close. They got dominated at home.
Bama played the one team that matches up with them personnel wise and got dominated at home. Saban mismanaged the injury to tua and had him in the game up 35-7 only to get hurt again and maybe cost him a career.

IMO, Pruitt would be COY if he beat BYU and Ga state and he would be 2nd place if he didn’t lost to GA state.

I’m glad he figured it out. Still has room to improve but he has been playing well. If he comes back next year I hope he improves exponentially.

I had written him off as well.
