TaxSlayer Gator Bowl: Indiana vs. Tennessee

i
i

(7 p.m. on ESPN at TIAA Bank Field in Jacksonville, Florida)

The advanced metrics (SP+, FPI) see the teams comparably, as Indiana's talent level has gone up under coach Tom Allen. Tennessee looked really good down the stretch, winning its final five games behind an improved defense. Vols top receiver Jauan Jennings is suspended for the first half of the game, which gives Whop Philyor, Stevie Scott and Indiana's offense an opportunity for the early lead. Indiana's struggles against teams with winning records are a concern, though, and Tennessee will rally for a close win.

Prediction: Tennessee 37, Indiana 34

No we haven’t eaten there. We don’t mind spending the money. We do it big. We have eaten at 1900 park fair, T. rex, Akershus, and Columbia harbor house and it’s only day three. I’ll see if we have time to squeeze it in! My wife usually has everything perfectly planned out. But it is our first trip with our two year old. It’s been great so far. Epcot today so I’m three margaritas in already.
Glad y’all are having a great trip. If you can get a reservation there, I highly recommend it. Get the bison filet cooked rare or medium rare… You can thank me later.

Lol they aren't scoring 34 pts on us.

Sorry for changing the subject, but I just found out my oldest son got a welcome package to a local college...

He has earned an academic and marching band scholarships to THE University of Tennessee, and will March with The Pride of the Southland starting next fall. I couldn't help but tear up when he opened the acceptance letter, and Rocky Top started playing.

I couldn't be more proud of my son and his accomplishments, and I hope you'll join me in congratulating him on this amazing opportunity

Georgia State (38), at Florida (34), Georgia (43), at Alabama (35) are the only teams to score 34 or better against us.

In our 7 wins the highest total against us was 21 by South Carolina....we finished 29th in scoring defense at just 21.7 PPG. I think Indiana has a solid offense, they did score 27 on Penn State and 31 against Michigan State, but I'll be surprised if they score 34.

My Prediction is Tennessee 34, Indiana 24

Congrats! That card is such a great idea.

The schools and the bowls submitted a list of preferences and the SEC sorted it out. Gator and MCB both had UT #1. The SEC made the assignments for the pool of 6 bowls, putting UT in a less preferential bowl than UK, even though UK finished lower in the SEC pecking order. Changing that dominoed everything, since Louisville had already been slotted in the MCB and nobody wanted a UK-Louisville rematch. Nobody knew how it was going to end up, so it was all speculation until it was official.

Apparently it appeared that way enough to everyone to call it.

I can't even tell of you're suggesting I'm wrong for not blaming anyone or agreeing.
But I'm not gonna blame VQ, ESPN or any other outlet under the circumstances.

The posts I was responding to, suggested insiders like YOU and AV were fos for saying MCB. I didn't think you were but if you disagree, let me know and I'll apologize to the guy for suggesting you weren't .
Which should be awkward but I'll wait.😅

To be fair though, why is EVERYTHING an "insider" tells us just assumed to be fact as if it's coming directly from Phil Fulmer and/or UT? Until it's announced nothing is for certain. So while information coming from insiders may have a high probability of being accurate, until it's announced there's still a chance things could change.

I'm sure someone knew that Louisville was going to the Music City Bowl, and they also wanted Tennessee. Doesn't take much of a reach to assume UT goes to Nashville. It's in state, higher payout, and Kentucky had just played Louisville head to head.

Haha they aren’t going to be able to stop us either. Some bad teams hung big numbers on them this year. We score in the 40’s and I’m generous by saying they get 24. Won’t be close and no need for a rally. Just pretty much stomp a mud hole in another slow, bloated Big 10 team.

They better get it all before halftime, because they ain’t getting sh*t after it.

I agree.
And tbh, most of the "inside info" here isn't even accompanied by "I was told" or anything else. Hell, I couldn't swear which is passing along vs their opinion. There's usually nothing added to differentiate.

But regardless, if the SEC thought or implied MCB initially, and others, posters or publications, used that as their source, don't see why anyone would hold that against them. I don't recall ever seeing a situation like yesterday, previously.
