I Take it as a good sign that we’re handing out GIT shirts.

Not that Butch Jones was a good on the field coach, but it is kind of ironic that people complained about him doing this.

This is just how the game is played. You take commitments early for guys you would like to have but may not be the highest on your board. Then, when things change, so do the commitments. If you turned everyone away early, then you could end up in a bad spot.

So....

IU has faced some pretty mediocre teams this year and it may have skewed the numbers somewhat.

1. IU appears to have a fairly competent passing offense but not much run game. We have faced much stiffer defenses and our offense showed vast improvement in the second half of the season. If we can stop their passing attack, we should be able to limit their offensive production.
- Our passing D is actually pretty darn good and so that may be one of the best matchups of the game.

2. IU has a decent defense too. Again, though, they have faced some truly awful offenses en route to their 37th Overall Defensive ranking. They are 45th in both rushing and passing D.
- Our WR are probably faster and bigger than many of the offenses that IU has faced (exception OSU, Michigan, and Penn State which all beat IU)

3. The teams that IU has beaten average 89th in total Offense and 86th in total Defense. The teams they have lost to average 60th in O and 12th in D. However, that includes MSU who is not good at O. If you exclude MSU, it is more like 47th O and 10th D.
- We are 100th in O and 28th in D. Again, our offense struggled to find it's legs earlier in the year so I think we are somewhat better than our average would indicate. We are not an offensive juggernaut, but our D will be one of the best that IU has faced all year. If we can harass their QB and force him into some bad throws, our DB's could feast.

All in all, I think it will be a good challenge for us. However, I think that our boys will begin to pull away by halftime and then shut them down in the 2nd half, as we are prone to do recently.

I also think our O will be able to out size and speed IU. Just better athletes.

Vols - 35
IU - 17

Apparently it appeared that way enough to everyone to call it.

I can't even tell of you're suggesting I'm wrong for not blaming anyone or agreeing.
But I'm not gonna blame VQ, ESPN or any other outlet under the circumstances.

The posts I was responding to, suggested insiders like YOU and AV were fos for saying MCB. I didn't think you were but if you disagree, let me know and I'll apologize to the guy for suggesting you weren't .
Which should be awkward but I'll wait.😅

I wasn't suggesting you were right, wrong or anything else. My comment wasn't meant to be specific to your post or to the VQ statement, whatever it was. I was simply commenting on the process, which is generally not as fluid as it was. Apologies for quoting your post in that context, seemingly indicating something undetermined that was unintended. My bad.

yep. i think he'll do well there. the person that should be worried the most is morehead at MSU.

and i'd of loved to see Kiffin and Mullen duke it out in the great state of mississippi. man, i wish we could have seen that. that would have been epic.
That makes it sound like Mullen isn't so meh after all.

Nah man, it's all good. The ending was just in fun, sorry if it didn't seem that way.

AV was right when he said....

Now that it’s out there, how soon until he pulls his name from consideration?
If he does, our lawyers should really consider reviewing the terms of his separation. That would seem to be enough to terminate payments. Would be two different HC jobs in 3 months he removed his name from consideration.

It's cool-- I didn't take it any other way. What a wild turn of events. UK won't be forgetting Bowlgate any time soon.
We might be the most influential fan base in the country. Stopped the Shiano hire and got our bowl game changed to one in a warmer climate. That's true power
