Do you ever stop and think how sick this class would be if we had landed Smalls and Sewell.
Not personally, just because both seemed like longshots, being west coast and wanted by all, so I never had much expectation. Like Washington. If we get 1 out of 3 we should be so lucky. We got Toots last year. It's been a minute since we recruited West coast well, would be a happy return. But we need to rebuild our name some to help across the coast long-term. Past 10 years have hurt our name some. Nieds is a balancer though.

I believe we can take 26 (one back count from Melvin McBride) this year. Not sure where the 27th would come from. Maybe WIlliamson would not enroll until next Jan due to his ACL injury.
If we got Mcbride's back, it would just mean we need 0 blueshirts to reach 25. Just like how Anthony Harris didn't make it in. His absence means we only need 1 blueshirt this year, rather than 2, as we needed last year just to reach 25.

Butch left us in such a hole, we have little hope of backcounting right now afaik, unless we regained multiple scholarships this past class. Can't think of any besides Melvin.

@Mike4Vols is not a troll. Maybe more nagavol than posivol. But not a troll

Thanks. Good assessment. I consider myself a ‘realist’ but I could see how that would be misconstrued as negativity by a certain crowd. I was down on both Dooley (after the KY game) and Jones (during the second 9 win season) before lots of people and caught plenty of flack over it.

I actually like Pruitt a lot and think he’s a better fit for us than any of the last 3 coaches. He’s got some in-game coaching issues but he seems to be learning on the job fairly well. Given Smart’s recruiting success at GA, I also thought Pruitt would be a superstar recruiter here but that hasn’t happened yet. We’ll see. Maybe this is the year it starts. That’s not negative. Just a real, honest opinion.

I’ll say this: I’ve seen the temperature of this board change a lot over the last 10 years. That’s one of the reasons I don’t post as often anymore. There used to be some intelligent (but heated) back-and-forth between posters. Now it’s a feeding frenzy. Think I’ll slip back in the cave and lurk for a while, It’s not a whole lot of fun here at the moment.

@Freak — I hope you and yours are doing well.

Had a doctor's appointment then went Christmas shopping. Clicked on a few threads when I could. Saw the panic in the Keyshawn Lawrence thread so next chance I got I decided to quickly see the latest. Opened it up to "....just committed to Washington State." What!?! Then realized I clicked on the other Keyshawn.

Rando poster on VQ...tifwiw

"Talked to Jeremy Banks today...

Seemed confident he will be back"

Pruitt really is a Players coach. Knows kids will make mistakes. Giving him an opportunity or second chance to get his grades in line, show that he can be an asset to the community and represent the program. Hope he takes advantage of it.

Just realized Gibbs enrolled last Spring in January. That means he should have 2 full semesters under his belt. Hmmm does he qualify to play in the bowl?

14.5.5 Four-Year College Transfers.

14.5.5.1 General Rule. A transfer student from a four-year institution shall not be eligible for intercollegiate competition at a member institution until the student has fulfilled a residence requirement of one full academic year (two full semesters or three full quarters) at the certifying institution. (Revised: 1/10/91 effective 8/1/91, 4/14/10)

Some things we’ve heard this week make it seem like the Vols may be the team to beat. This is going to be a high profile recruitment but the Vols have put themselves in good position at this stage of the game. Having Big O and Small at TN has to help also

To follow up on the Gibbs thought, it appears Syracuse did this with 2 players last year and their bowl was Dec 28th. Some hope...

"When Adams’ first heard of the possibility that he could play in a bowl game, he didn’t believe it. But both Adams and Jackson transferred to SU for the spring semester, making the end of the fall 2018 semester the completion of a “year of residency,” which is required by the NCAA. This made the players eligible for the game, and the redshirt rule allowed the game to not waste a year of eligibility."

New rule grants Syracuse transfers playing time, 3 touchdowns in Camping World Bowl
