Titans gonna miss the playoffs by one game again, lock down Tannehill with a huge contract, and he will immediately regress to his Dolphins self.
It could happen, but if Houston wraps it up, they might still be playing for something, but maybe not.Houston wraps up the division nest week and they are not playing for anything in week 17. Titans win against them and for sure Steelers are not beating Baltimore bc they are fighting for the 1 seed and will still be playing hard. Titans get the wildcard . I hope anyway
- SimontonTennessee returned to the practice field Monday, continuing its bowl prep for Indiana.
As was the case over the weekend, much of the focus during three indy periods was all on fundamentals, with head coach Jeremy Pruitt watching multiple units on the team including the quarterbacks, offensive line, inside linebackers and secondary.
Hereās some quick thoughts on Mondayās practiceā¦
The Vols worked in shells, with the entire defensive line and outside linebacker units spending two whole periods on the levy sleds. Under the watchful eyes of Tracy Rocker and Chris Rumph, the total focus was on leverage and explosion. Aubrey Solomon, dinged up to end the regular season, looked fine, same for Latrell Williams. Rocker wanted more out of both John Mincey and Savion Williams during the drill but he did give Matthew Butler and JaāQuain Blakely some praise. Later, the defensive line worked on drills under the chute, while the outside linebackers spent a period concentrating on pass rush moves.
Quavaris Crouch spent the opening portion of practice with the tailbacks before joining the outside linebackers.
Brian Niedermeyer had his tight end group working in pairs pushing a sled before switching gears and focusing on foot placement in the run game.
Will Friend had his offensive line spilt between guards and tackles, with most of the focus on footwork. Notably, with Brandon Kennedy (knee) out, Jerome Carvin took at reps at center. Jackson Lampley was the No. 2 center. Redshirt freshman defensive lineman Kingston Harris was working at offensive guard Monday. Itās the second time Harris has switched sides of the ball. Pruitt watched freshmen Wanya Morris and Darnell Wright work on their pass sets for a while, offering tips to both players. With no Ryan Johnson or Marcus Tatum, Ollie Lane was the backup right tackle.
I didnāt see much of routes on air but redshirt freshman wideout Cedric Tillman, who was absent Saturday, was back out there Monday. Jarrett Guarantano was easily the sharpest of the quarterbacks. The new practice field configuration (they moved the fields over some 10-15 yards to use the better sod) made it difficult to see some of the drills. Jauan Jennings did have one circus catch and Josh Palmer skied for a slant over the middle.
Not always about ranking though. More about getting who our staff originally wanted and we didn't get. We got some though and I always say wait till it's all over, but that is another metric to follow.Until you star junkies learn that the recruiting services rank kids based on whether they attended camps, rumors of 40 times, and what they are told by the coaches of upper echelon teams, you're going to be upset with our recruiting. Recruiting services suck and I view them like I do the 1-800 psychics. The rankings used to be ok but over the years it's turned into more of a popularity contest. It's getting worse too.
Sure, I will agree that the very top of the rankings, the truly elite players, the top 20-30, probably are fairly accurate. After that it's a crap shoot. The different between a class ranked 8th, and a class ranked 15 is miniscule at best.
I get it, we want the "feels good" associated with a highly ranked class. I want the "feels good" of a highly ranked team. One doesn't necessarily translate to the other.
I think they can franchise Tannehill.Unfortunately the Titans might be in a tough spot. Either ya pay Marcus and lose Tannehill, pay Tannehill and lose Marcus, or let both go and look for the next QB in Free Agency/draft.
I think they'll go with Tannehill and may look to draft a solid QB to groom for a year or 2.
A 3 Star that got bumped to a 4 Star would simply be evaluated as such in the analysis. Nothing tricky there.
And I havenāt painted this as a ā3 Starā class. At all. Iām on record as liking a lot of the pieces we have committed.
I posted an objective, factual statistical analysis and some ran with it as somehow being a stinging indictment of this class. Which it was not.
I take it you donāt find statistics interesting? Strange, for a sports fan. Jmo.
Mariota wonāt be a factor. Heās played his last snap in a Titans jersey unless Tannehill is injured or they want to give him some sendoff by taking meaningless snaps.Unfortunately the Titans might be in a tough spot. I wasnāt arguing with anyone. And didnāt say anything about the ābumpā phenomenon, which is real.Lol, what the hell are you going on about???
Didn't even respond to you or about your argument with someone else. Scrolled by most tbh, but I saw the stats, seen them several times and know what badly said is accurate.
Are just wanting me to act surprised or like it was never linked before?
If you really don't believe proven coaches receive recruiting bumps without legitimate further evaluation, we're so far apart, discussion is pointless.
