Funny how Justin Coleman was terrible when he was at TN, but now he is on the all decade team.

157 tackles, 8.5 TFL, 5 INTs, 1 TD 17 PDs stacks up pretty well against the rest of the CBs that have played here this decade.

Ladarrell McNeil would be the next man in for the secondary, and I also debated Todd Kelly Jr., but him rarely playing the last 2 seasons and kind of under performing his whole career just didn't feel right.

My point is Butch recruited a lot of talent here but no one ever wants to admit it. I hate the guy. Personally think he's an awful person and exploited a lot of people. But when it came to recruiting that was never his downfall. Although, that 2017 class sucked.

The discussion was "who is your all decade team?"

No clue why you made it about Butch, unprovoked...

Why? Basing this on what they did at UT, not the NFL.

Vereen had a better career and played here longer while being on better teams too. Case could be made for Malik over Kyle, but I appreciate that Kyle stayed 4 seasons and learned a new role under Pruitt.
Yes, based on time at UT IMO. Jackson was second team All SEC here and was pretty consistent.

Starting "all decade" team (2010-2019), Can exclude OL if ya want...

QB - Josh Dobbs (backup: Tyler Bray)
RB - Jalen Hurd, Neal, & Kamara
WR - Jennings, Calloway, Hunter & Malone
TE - Mychal Rivera, Ethan Wolf

DL - Derek Barnett, Kyle Phillips, Shy Tuttle, Corey Vereen
ILB- Daniel Bituli, AJ Johnson, JRM
OLB- Darrell Taylor, Curt Maggitt
CB- Justin Coleman
CB- Cameron Sutton
S- Brian Randolph
S- Nigel Warrior

Not sure why we’d want to leave off OL. That would actually be a pretty good group.

Maybe not the best in the SEC over that time, but certainly not a liability.

Patterson over Calloway at WR.

Agree I’ve always said you should look at recruiting classes in tiers as opposed to individual rankings.

Something like:
1-6
7-12
13-18
19-25
Yup. I find ~7-13 to almost always be within about a dozen points from top to bottom on 247 composite. Immaterially different, but people have that "top 10" or "top15" cutoff in their mind.

I couldn't do it, though I LOVE Patterson, the one year was magical. But was still just a single season. Da'Rick also had a killer sophomore season, big "what if" had he stayed another year here. Ultimately Callaway made my lineup because he was durable (played 3 seasons and appeared in a total of 34 games in his career). 91 grabs with a 17.9 a grab average and 13 TDs, and he was a solid return man averaging 13.8 a return on 39 punt returns with 3 career TDs.

That is a ridiculous assertion, we have never led for either other than a few opinions by insiders. We aren't even considered a threat to sign Washington by the majority of insiders and Morven was committed to FSU until recently.
Yup, the only people believe we will sign washington are on the UT side. Not usually a good sign, since recruits sometimes tell each school nice things just to be polite. We could still pull it off, but not signing him should not be a surprise or big disappointment at all.

One thing is for sure, with the additions of Hyatt, Calloway, and Holiday, we got a whole lot faster at receiver. We will be able to do with them what Bama has been doing with their receivers. Throw a 10 yard slant and watch it go for 60.

We were able to watch that this season. It was JJ slowly carrying 4 defenders down the field on his back.

I'm not saying Coleman doesn't belong on the list. He started in the secondary from day 1 at TN. It was more of a dig at all the TN fans who criticized him his whole career while he was at TN .. and now he must have been good since he has been a success in the NFL.

Emmanuel Mosley is another DB with a similar TN fan reaction that has done well in the NFL.

How much weight is behind the Gilbert flipping rumor ? Its been out there for couple weeks, but really seems to be picking up steam now a day before signing

I guess it gets into the discussion of if the list is about career achievement or if you’re picking the best to come through. Like Russell Wilson was at Wisconsin one year, and I’d assume he’d make the all decade list, but Joel Stave started all 4 years I think. Especially in a down decade for talent, I think you heavily discount longevity.

Mosley did catch a lotta flack, but to be a 4 year starter and have just 2 INTs for your career is kind of weak.

And the comments on Jones were primarily taking highest rated to FILL OUT the class, over need/SEC size. Then not developing them.

But it's narrative by need, so whatever.

If UT keeps everyone they have in the fold that is expected to sign early, and adds Whitehead, TB, and Holiday it will be a good signing day. If they add the aforementioned and Washington, Joseph, or Tisdol it will be a great signing day. No one can complain if we sign double digit 4/5 star players in a class, it isn't realistic to expect to out recruit Bama, Georgia, LSU, or Florida on a regular basis but if we sign double digit 4/5 star players then we are keeping pace. The differences between a high 4 star and a 5 star are semantics
Laughing at the no one can complain part, because we all know plenty of people will, regardless of how tomorrow goes.
