They do and they spend millions a year on it. They don't use 247 or rivals ect.

It’s almost as if we should have some sort of system to help us identify the best talent so we can be done with this star system

What if instead of stars, the best players were given...... wait for it..... footballs! The better a recruit, the more footballs they are awarded. We could set up camps that the players could pay to come to and have us evaluate them. If they don't want to come to our camp, we can just give them a basic 2 football rating and get around to evaluating their film later/never. Then to make it even better, we can have a website where we can charge people a monthly fee to hear our "expert" analysis on why this high school kid is worth five footballs and that one is only worth three. It's fool proof!

Yeah, and it couldn't hurt that football-jock-masculinity mentality for some of the players to be "5-balls"

Which brings me to another interesting factoid: Harrison Bailey once competed with Lance Armstrong in a "who has more balls" contest...Harrison Bailey won by 6.
