Rocker was offered off field position to stay at UT, Pruitt was already planning to hire a new DL coach. Muscamp lost his DL coach so Rocker decided to take that instead of get demoted at UT.

I liked Rocker. If he stayed I would have been ok with it and now that he is gone I am still ok with it cause CP will just improve the position.

Fact is, it is easy to coach worship and just believe that every move they make is the right one, just like Ron did with Sunseri, and I also did with the intern at times. Fact is, coaches can make mistakes. Helton was a mistake for Pruitt, for example. So just because our head coach is hiring someone, doesn't mean the hire is an excellent one. With these guys, I believe they'll be good hires. But they are also risky hires, as I've said all morning long to anyone who actually read and didn't just "argh!! Pruitt would never make a mistake! You're just a whiny pansy!!! CJP4LIFE!"

I like the taking a risk path as long as he can quickly identify if it was a mistake and correct the course. Dimikare to the OC change after year one.

It’s not that I’m worshipping the coach or that I think these are great hires. It’s that I’m unqualified to question Jeremy Pruitt when hiring coaches. Especially defensive assistants. I’m just a fan. I hope for the best and enjoy the ride. I don’t pretend to be smarter than the head coach at Tennessee. And I think it’s silly when other people do. I’ve seen nothing from Pruitt to make me think he didn’t make good hires today. It’s that simple really.
