When Mullen was at Miss St they were pretty much just a JUCO all star team. It worked for him, but probably a quarter of the people in Mississippi are juco students at any given time.
Decided to look up how many offensive skill players (QB, WR, TE, and RB) that at least got drafted under Mullen at MSU. Here are the results:
QB - 1
RB - 3
WR - 0
TE - 2
For someone supposedly considered the QB whisperer he isn't really good at spitting out NFL draft picks on that side of the ball for the skill positions.
Yea, I didn't know the exact answer but didn't recall many recent RB's or WR's from MSU doing much in the NFL. MSU has had many of their NFL players on the defensive side.
I can also say that I have a MSU friend who knows his stuff, and they were frustrated with Mullen not changing his OL coach. His OL coach is apparently a close friend, and the MSU OL was not performing great at the end of Mullen's tenure. He took him to UF.
