Is there any plan to increase broadcast requirements beyond 1080i?All this TV talk reminds me of how silly it is that you can buy a 55" 4K HDR TV for $500 now but almost all TV broadcasts are still heavily compressed 720p or 1080i.
It will be a glorious day when we get 4K sports broadcasts. Hell, even true 1080p broadcasts would look amazing compared to what we get now.
Wow! That really does put it into perspective. These are the recruiting class rankings for the past 20 years according to 247. I didn’t adjust for attrition and transfers are not included. There has been some chatter about the average rating for the guys in our 2021 class right now but I looked at a 5-year average (2015-19) for almost 20 “blue blood” teams and I don’t think that tells you a lot. For example, Alabama’s top 40 players may average out to 94.50 or so per guy but their total roster average is brought down by the balance of their roster to 92.98. Our top 40 guys this year looks to be around 93.63 so we have quite a drop off in the non-blue chip portion of our roster.
There were a lot of expectations for our 2015 and 2016 teams because we had recruited well in 2014 and 2015. We obviously had some coaching issues but that’s not what this note is about. We are largely in the same talent bucket as Florida and Oklahoma and when our recruiting is on the upswing we generally have more success on the field. Duh! The last time we had a run at “being back” we flamed out but owing to the staff we have now, and Pruitt in particular, having been there and done that, I think we’re apt to “be back” sooner rather than later. I think there’s a decent probability we could beat both Oklahoma and Florida this year. jmo.
On a related note, I wouldn’t mind at all if Alabama and Florida went back to pulling in classes ranked in the 40’s. jmo.

I agree. Then we beat Mizzou and USC and enjoy a well deserved bye week getting ready for Bama. Imagine the electricity in Neyland Stadium for the Bama game if UT was 6-0?! My goodness what a victory that would be.These are the recruiting class rankings for the past 20 years according to 247. I didn’t adjust for attrition and transfers are not included. That's just beautiful!!!Let this sink in...
Tennessee Vol fans will quite possibly be the reason that is changing the face of College Football.
Remember "Shiano Gate"? TN fans flooded social media...and anywhere else they could...with our "no, we will not stand for it" stance. The media jumped all over it. Ridiculing us as horrible human beings...lol.
Just a few years later...As a college fanbase...we own social media. With this years class, we are now setting the narrative of the stories that the media is printing...
aaaaannnd...with the whole making money off of likeness...guess who is in the forefront...by far. Tennessee. The ridiculed fans of 3ish years ago are the reason kids are going to come to TN.
God bless the obnoxious, overbearing, ignorant, redneck fanbase who refused to accept Shiano as a hire. "Put on more steam"?...Tennessee fans haven't taken their foot off the pedal for 3 years!
