Gonna be back in Knoxville again this weekend. Got my wedding in 3 weeks so right now it has been really busy. Afterwards though it will be another story. Thanks for keeping us posted as I would love to check out a party or two.

Bball recruiting is getting just silly.

VQ posted we have visited 3 2021 guys this week, all 5*s. Also got an OV locked up for Kennedy Chandler, the #12 overall 2021 prospect visiting Oct 12th...the same day #2 overall prospect Paolo Banchero is coming. CHRIST. Are we even talking to 4*s at this point? Lol

I think that the success of Barnes' player development is only one of the reasons for the 5* visiting/committing to TN. The recent Basketball scandal with the Adidas agent has most likely slowed down all the shoe company bag men for at least a couple years. This allows Barnes to be able to have a chance to sign the 5* now.

yeah, and that's the thing that's missing now that i did have, at least every now and then, when i was growing up. late 70's/early 80's were bleak, but once we broke the streak to Bama in 82, things started looking up, had 85 and 89, the big win over Auburn in 85, and a bowl streak started, and then on in to the 90's..... so when i was a kid from about age 6 or 7 thru basically my early 30's, we were pretty much relevant every year. so TN football was an event on Saturdays in my house. we did plan around it, and it was very much a family affair....aunts, uncles, grandparents....all gathered around the TV with John Ward on the radio...chips, dips, and drinks for the adults........good times, except when we lost lol. my mom and grandmother were the ones that took it the most serious...never heard either of them cuss except on football saturday......

which is probably what i miss most. sure, winning was great, and it certainly was a catalyst for the rest, but really, i miss the "event" that TN football was.....

maybe some of that is just on me, but it's not been for lack of trying...lol....they get how important it is to me, and my wife is a die hard Steeler fan, so sundays are an event for her and her family, so there's an understanding between us...we get it....but even as successful as the Steelrs have been the past 15 years, really, my kids were either infants or not born yet the last time they won anything big, so even that's taken a step in the wrong direction.....add to the fact that we can't see every STeeler game or that many are on Sunday, Thursday or Monday nights, those are school nights..........

anyway...........rambling now.

really hope we win tomorrow.

88 tested anybody with orange blood. I consider it second only to the 8 loss season for built up gradual apathy. After the Sugar Vols, we hadn’t approached what worked and it eroded steadily. Majors burnt it all down! Fired coaches, moved players to unfamiliar positions...total nuke! We’ve had two 9 win seasons during this funk...one more than that magical 85 season (I know I know! We don’t have ties anymore! But I could see us losing to both UCLA and Georgia Tech if overtimes had been in place.) We’re not in new territory! Fans on this board are either born afterwards, too young or intentionally forgetful if they believe we are. **Prepares for deluge of schedules and winning percentage screen shots**

i dont think JG wins us this game. But i dont think he loses it either. Our defense steps it tf up and scores some big time turnovers. We take care of the ball offensively and win a close one in the swamp.

if that doesn't happen though, we lose, bigly. I've no confidence in JG winning the game for us if we are also turning it over.

It’s a really tough season to predict with so many unknowns. How good will Josiah be? How good will Plavsic be? Will he even be eligible? Olivier Robinson-Camois (sp?) has generated some positive buzz. What will we get from him? Will Turner’s shoulder allow him to be the shooter we know he can be? Last year we pretty much knew what we had. This year is just a guessing game, so I’m guessing we get positive answers on most of those questions, win about 19 games regular season, and are on the bubble going into the SEC tourney.

this is where i'm at. i think there'll be some "figuring it out" early, and i don't know how i feel about some of hte bigger games we have in the non conf just yet, but i think there'll be some growing pains early.

but i could see this team, that does still have some talent on it, being really, really pesky in the conf......several teams will be better of course, and conventional wisdom will say we take a step back given who isn't coming out of that tunnel this year....so i get it.

but bowden, turner, James is probably a good thresome to build around and the big guy we got in, hope he's elligible. no idea how good he is, but we'll need more than just Fulky down low....(who i also expect to be better).

hoping we can see Pons and a couple other guys take a step this season.

i don't think we're going to be #1 again this year lol....but right now, i might be a little surprised if we don't make the NCAA's....there's still some pretty solid talent at guard, and we still have a good coach....that's a good place to start.

he made this pick on college footbal live yesteday and the two guys on with him were laughing at him....vilma and the other guy, can't remember his name....but they both shrugged it off like he was just plain crazy. can't really blame them....but.....

i would imagine burns is probably in the very small minority on that pick.....

I'm at the point right now that I have no clue what to expect from the UF QB's. I hope Trask is as bad as advertised, same with Emory, and/or that Mullen goes QB carousel and plays both to see who is better while ruining his chances at winning the game.

on paper, it shouldn't be all that close.....FL is 3-0, and beaten 2 p5 teams. we're 1-2 and lost to what was until recently an FCS team and gave away a game to BYU.....

if nothing else, FL finds ways to win, we find ways to lose.

if you're looking for good news, not played on paper.....

there are some things that do set up the potential for an upset. hope we can take advantage.

This team needs turnovers in a bad way. The two QB situation has a chance to bring that about. Gotta protect the ball and win the turnover margin comfortably.

we still have visions of last year's game, and him getting tossed around like a rag doll and making terrible decisions.

i agree, i think the offense is better suited this year than last, and JG really doesn't have to be "awesome". he needs to be efficient and when opportunities present to go make plays downfield, take them. need the WR's to have a game like they did against Auburn last year. as much as folks want to give JG ALL the credit for that, and he does deserve some cause he stood in the pocket and made the throws even w/pressure and getting hit, the WR's just wouldn't be denied that day.

need that same mentality, effort and production tomorrow.

and any NOTD's we can get would be most appreciated. but i'll take a mistake free day and take my chances either way.....

the unknown is what Mullen can do with the QB situation....which is why i hope we continue to see our defense be aggressive with the QB....

I know and just think how much better it would be going if Barnes hadn't just come hit to sit on his @ss and ride off into the retirement sunset. We could probably be signing all 5 of the top 5 players in the class.

Not taking a shot at you because a lot of people have had similar thoughts, but it’s funny the difference 10 days make.

There was near unanimous agreement that the only reason we lost to a middling BYU team is because JG killed us.

Now he’s supposedly the guy that’ll lead us down to The Swamp and beat a top 10 Gator team.

This was a dig at Mizzou. I'm saying I'd rather have Tulane than Mizzou.

Also, GT would recruit against us, Tulane wouldn't.
