I wonder what would make Pruitt want this one more than Florida or Bama? Recruiting purposes? Doesn’t like Kirby? Respect for Saban? Simply because it’s the next game on the schedule? Or he believes this team can win it, and wants this team to believe it, do it, and take the next step?
Said because of the way he was treated at UGA when he was DC. He believes UGA should be one of the most dominant teams in the country every year because of recruiting and UGA wasnt. They also said because of recruiting and he wants to beat Kirby.

It really is a pretty impressive failure they are running down there in Athens!

I'd also think from what AV has said about Kirby there has been a lot of behind the scenes things going on with recruiting.

If UT beats UGA just think about how other schools would negative recruit UGA. Just a few yrs ago we lost 8 games in a season and UGA has 2 or 3 yrs in a row as no.1 recruiting. And they can't win a ship?

You have no idea.
The internal hatred of Kirby and his entire staff is at unprecedented levels. This game has been circled by JP for quite some time. There isn’t a game he wants to win more than this one...

I don’t know what to think of this game. My head says we don’t have a chance. That defense is absolutely nasty. We have decent receivers, but no game changers out there. Gonna be hard for them to get separation. We have a nasty OL and good backs, but that running game is against the strength of their team, the best front 7 in football. Not exactly easy. And then we have JG, who has been much better this year, but also hasn’t faced much pressure. He’s gonna have to throw accurate balls into tight windows under pressure on Saturday. Our offense is going to have a hard time. But you also have to wonder how much of that was AU being really bad. They’re not a good football team.

Our defense isn’t there yet. We’re getting better every week and eventually it’s going to click, especially for our secondary. Outside of Henry, our LB’s struggle in coverage. Hopefully Sham being back helps us defend the middle. On the DL, lot of experience, but Solomon out of shape and Middleton didn’t do much Saturday in his first game back. We have experience, but no stars there on the DL. They’re good but not great. They’ll get better as the year progresses. Hopefully they and the secondary take that step on Saturday.

But then I think of GA’s offense. They aren’t scary at all. I don’t think Ga can line up and run the football against us at will even tho we aren’t where we need to be yet on the DL. Honestly I think Bennett is about the same level as Mizzou’s QB we played on Saturday. Ga has better receivers and RB’s but if we can get pressure to Bennett, we can force him to make mistakes. He threw 14 picks in juco last year. He hasn’t fixed that in an offseason of no football. This is the key. If we want to win, we have to get to Bennett. He’ll miss and he’ll throw us the ball. That’s our chance.
Listened to Cole Cubelic on Swain today and he said that he was impressed with the defense. Can they get better? Yes. I think our defense will be locked in Saturday night. Record 2.5-3 sacks, 4 hurries and an interception.

The ramifications of beating UGA would be enormous. Really hope we can pull it out.

When u say internal hatred do mean by Georgia players or by opposing coaches, high school coaches, boosters, etc.

I saw that, but I can't really quibble with it at this point. The OL will have to prove him wrong. But that is a really, really good DL, and defense overall.
Personally more worried about their pass defense. That is where most of their 5*s are and they are far and away the best statistically in the league.

Their run defense so far has proven no better than what Miss St or UK did vs their common opponents - Arky and Auburn. And our OL of course is great. Not sure if we have the AA type of receivers yet to give them a ton of trouble.

There appears to be a significant segment of the Georgia fanbase that is worried about their game with us this weekend. Of course most of their fanbase hasn’t given us a second thought other than hearing something about us having a good offensive line. The latter group tends to dismiss us as having not been tested, which in my opinion is actually true, at least not like we will be tested Saturday. The truth is Auburn doesn’t have an offensive line and they are rebuilding their defensive line. Arkansas is starting fresh this year with new coaches and schemes everywhere so it’s not like Georgia has been tested either, not yet. jmo.

I was surprised to see PFF grade our wide receiver group as the 2nd best in the country, ranking only behind Alabama. I think we have some work to do there, particularly with some of the younger guys but Palmer and Jones have proven to be tough guys so we’ll see.

The thing is WE.WILL.RUN.THE.BALL against Georgia. The larger segment of their fanbase don’t think we can but that is absurd. You have to remove emotion and ask the question – what does it take to run the ball in the SEC against the better defensive fronts? The answer is capable running backs and an elite offensive line. That’s the answer. It’s not complicated. We.will.run.the.ball against Georgia. They won’t be able to stop us with any consistency.

We’re likely not going to be playing finesse football – We’re going to be playing old school physical whup their ass at the line of scrimmage football – and think about it – I mean really stop and think about it – we have the guys this year to do that. Our guys will be playing with attitude. This will be a real fight in the trenches. Our guys won’t be stopped.

Pruitt after the Missouri game:

ON RUNNING AGAINST MISSOURI

“Well, we ran the ball 51 times. So the first part of being good in the run game is you’ve got to do it. You’ve got to say that, hey, we want to establish the run game. I felt like we did that a little bit today.”

“These guys (Missouri) really stack the box. But we wanted to be able to run the football. We ran the football probably against bad looks. But that’s ok. Our guys did a nice job getting on some people and our backs ran hard.”

“I mean, it’s got to be a mindset, you know? I talked to our team about it. We’re not living in fear. So we’re sure not going to play in fear or coach in fear.”

ON IF HE FEELS LIKE HIS TEAM IS READY TO CHALLENGE A TEAM LIKE GEORGIA

“Yeah, absolutely. The last two years we’ve played them, they’ve had a really good football team. I’ve not even watched them, but I’m sure they’ll have a really good football team this year. They’ve got good players, they got good coaches. But we do too. That’s why I came to Tennessee, that’s why these players came to Tennessee, is to play in a game like this. So we’re looking forward to it.”

ON WHAT HE’S LEARNED ABOUT HIS TEAM THROUGH TWO GAMES

“We have a bunch of guys, to me, that are winners. They’re good kids. Good men that work hard. They got a kind of an edge about them when it comes to doing the right thing and competing. They’re coachable. It’s fun to be around them. It is for me to be around them. They might say the opposite about me. But I love coaching these guys. I love the men on our staff and everybody we’ve got. Men and women on our staff, everybody in our organization. It’s exciting times for me to get up and go to work every day and be around everyone.”

Internal hatred by tenn staff

This makes me very happy to see. I’m glad it’s not just another game on the schedule... if they hate UGA as much as all of us on volnation, it will rub off on the players and anything can happen this weekend...

They will be HYPED to play!
