If we want to recruit more top players, we can't lay an egg this weekend. We don't have to win, but we can't go down there and get embarrassed if we expect to land Mims, Mondon, Nyland etc.

I don't think this team will get embarrassed. In some regards this team reminds me of Butch's 3rd season team, the 2015 team, the season that fooled me into thinking we might be bck. . That team also had a good, physical OL with talented RBs that could run behind it. That was also a good defense. Problem was coaching and inability to close out games. This staff ain't that staff. We really don't know exactly how good UGA is overall, same as we on't yet know how good UT is; Auburn is not nearly as good as their reseason ranking, but Arkansas now appears at least a bit better than everyone expected this early, so neither UT or UGA has truly been tested. But I think this team is physical and has a swagger to it; my concern at this point, other than UGA's overall talent and their own swagger, is still the lack of practice and playing time for a lot of our guys as they have worked to get back in game shape. But this team is talented enough, and has enough dog in them, that I can't see them getting blown off the field.

Dang. Wish they'd consider us. That's the strangest thing about Pruitt's recruiting so far. We can't land a 5 star corner. We have the two best DB coaches in college football and we can't land an elite corner. Makes no sense.

If any of those recruits are reading the Auburn messageboards, as I am sure many do, their hair is probably on fire now reading what Auburn fans are saying about Gus. They may not expect him to survive if Auburn has a 3-4 loss season after being preseason top 10. We have to do our part in adding to their loss total.

Here is what it comes down to for me - pretty simple and not scientific, but it's in the trenches.

Our Strength: OL vs. Their Strength: DL - this is a great match up and a toss up. Call it even.

Our DL vs. Their OL - this is an edge for them. I think this means in theory that they will have an easier time moving the ball and potentially scoring.
We have to be balanced on offense. I think we have some early success by mixing in a few passes, then they will make adjustments and we have to be able to take advantage and hit some explosive plays in the passing game. Their defense is too strong for us to run it down their throats without mixing in some pass plays.

We might be able to hang with UGA for a few quarters, but their depth and talent is much superior to ours. We would have to dominate convincingly because they will get a very favorable whistle against us. Just wait until you see the first screwjob call from the refs and you’ll know. The SECs goal is for them to remain undefeated until Alabama so they get a huge top 3 matchup next week with all the associated ratings and coverage.
If by a few quarters you mean four quarters, then I agree with you.

Basically the only way we win is if they turn the ball over multiple times and we don't. We have to have a few lucky breaks.

Roc Taylor played the 5* CB last year and burned him for three touchdowns. Still would like an elite corner like you said.

I was listening to Coach Doug Matthews Sunday show and he pointed out something that I've noticed but hadn't considered the true magnitude of the impact. ERIC GRAY CATCHES OUR OPPONENT'S PUNTS. He isn't allowing the punts to hit the ground and roll against us for ever how many yards. In the field position game this is an important detail. Anyway, thanks largely to Eric Gray and our coaching we currently lead the conference in opponent punting. jmo.

Yikes. I get it though. Arkie broke that awful streak. But chug a beer. Shoot some heroin. Hit your thumb with a hammer. But not this.

Arkansas Fan Celebrated 1st SEC Win In Over 1k Days By Taking Down An Entire Tin Of Dip

This brings back a bad memory. When I was about 12-13 I went jogging with my dad after supper one evening. He was a Beechnut fanatic and he put a plug in his mouth and I asked if I could, so he gave me a plug and I stuck it in the side of my mouth. Somewhere during jogging something went terribly wrong and I swallowed that nasty shat and literally turned green and wetched my insides out. Horrible experience, but it did keep me from ever putting a plug in my mouth again. And have never dipped snuff, although I always kept a tin around for bee and wasp stings.
This is soooo familiar to my experience. Dad liked a big plug in his mouth especially when we would go rabbit hunting. We came across a fence we had to cross. I had a big plug in my mouth and when I jumped off the fence post to the ground, I inadverdantly swallowed that wad, turned green and lost everything I had eaten that day!

I like to think that the elite CBs know they won't be beating out Bryce, Alontae and Sham, so they are just waiting until they are gone. But, yeah, I don't get it, either

I love how some posters are making this Georgia team to have the Bears defense. They have played two teams with bad offenses. Their QB situation is average at best. Yes, they have a great defense and ok offensive line, but we have great players too. I bet we see a huge difference in the secondary with Sham back and we mix a lot of blitzes this week. This team will be prepared.
I do agree that JG is the key to winning. If he doesn’t turn the ball over at all, we win. We are going to get some yards.

I’m not a “blame the refs” guy but I doubt they let it stay too close unless we’re just dominating. On the other hand, they let USCe win in Athens last year despite giving UGA a few opportunities to survive. Maybe we can do the same.
