Bitching and asking a question about why we aren’t landing championship level talent are two different things? I have repeatedly said I think JP is the guy for the job. It was a question about why we can’t land a 5 star DB. When our staff is so experienced with DBs.

It is weird..I don't understand the era we live in now...kids make no sense at all. A lot of the highest rated are nothing but cowardly followers.

The reason Maurer doesn't get more of a chance is that he is careless with ball...2TD to 5 INT.....in his limited amount of work.

Basically. He was given a last chance vs UK when JG had a cast on. We had 3 points at half. JG came in 2nd half and put up back to back TDs. That was the end of it and we won 8 or whatever straight.

Believe he also got some play in the bowl game and was poor once again.

He never seemed to recover after his head injuries. Reminded me of late 2018 JG...dude did not look or act right after his concussion.

Well..Clemson closed the hell out of that gap over time with classes not much better than ours..they beat the everlovin crap outta Crappabama..there are ways to do it. That is the path we must also take.

My frustration is this: the defense is there. What Pruitt has done with this defense is nothing short of remarkable. We aren’t Ga on defense, but we also don’t have near the talent and we may be the second best defense in the league. When you look at our defense we have 2 elite players. Ga has 22 on defense. Their entire 2 deep is elite. We have no one on that DL who has a chance to get drafted (although I think the freshmen will). And yet our guys are very good against the run. Our defense is going to be elite when Pruitt gets a full stable of his players in here. That said, we need to recruit better on the DL. We need to land Malone.

But offense, that’s the concern. We have 5 stars on the OL and they still make boneheaded mistakes and ran for -1 yards against Ga. our wide receivers are average. Palmer is pretty good but not elite. Our RB’s? Chandler isn’t an NFL player. Gray is, but likely as a specialist, not a straight RB. QB? Oof.

If we want to get to where we need to get, we have to fix that offense. May need a couple coaching changes there but who knows. Need to figure it out. I like the freshmen receivers, don’t like the freshmen RB’s. I like Cody Brown, but Wright is a question mark. Who knows what he is? We need Evans back in this class. And we are not recruiting at an elite level on the OL. We have to step up recruiting at that position. Big time.

It can be done, but I think Clemson’s classes ranked around where our’s have been without being 24/25 players. They went smaller numbers with higher ratings. Quality over quantity. I feel like we get some great quality, but also tack on quantity and hope one of them is a hidden gem. But Pruitt has improved the overall talent, just not close to the elite teams.

I can’t find the stats for fumbles lost in 2019 but Jg threw 8 INTs in 275 pass attempts.

Maurer threw 5 INTs in 75 pass attempts.

BM was a Fr but he did turn the ball over at a much higher rate. In terms of INTs at least.

But that sample size for BM is much too small to make any definitive statements imo

We lost seven fumbles all of last year. Link doesn't say who, but I remember the GaSt lateral pass to the flat, and obviously Bama. I'm blanking on the other five.

Maurer was also fortunate to not have a lot more lollipops to his credit throwing high heaters over the middle of the field. He looked like a turnover waiting to happen.

INTA% tracks this and you are correct. 1 in 5 passes could have been picked off. "Luckily" only 1 in 15 were. Worst in the league by a decent margin. He was just too inaccurate and risky.

UF AD just said that a couple of the players who tested positive now say they had minor symptoms before traveling to College Station. They didn’t report their symptoms before they traveled because they thought it was allergies.
