I'm guessing these are the "never pruitters" in the FF?
Maybe so. To be honest, I’m as disconnected from Tennessee sports as I’ve ever been. I’ve been watching the games and trying to check in here once or twice a week.

Most of what I’ve seen is coming from Twitter. Seems like the Georgia loss has broken some spirits.

So, I’m seeing some folks suggesting the fanbase is not happy with Pruitt and he would be squarely on the hot seat with a loss this weekend.

1) do you feel that way?
2) I’m stunned, if it’s the case, that I’m not leading the charge.

I like Pruitt and think he’s done a good job. I’d rate it about 7/10.
Crazy talk. I would give him a 7/10 as well. We have only not done well at finding a QB and another great MLB to go with Too. But addressing our talent, increasing our size, and bringing us back up from the dead in a little over two years is pretty impressive.

He’s going to be remembered as one of the greats. I hope he can go out with at least an SEC East championship.

Me too, he’s the type of player you want to see succeed cause he plays the right way. Can’t wait to see what he does with Willis and Lewis around him next year.

Defense is going to be nasty. Can’t imagine if Thompson and Sham come back too. Elite...

Vol Twitter likes to shoot their own foot as much a Tennessee does

I do not think most Vol fans were willing to admit how far behind we had fallen from the big boys along the line of scrimmage.
Pruitt inherited a weak offensive and defense line. The trenches are where games are won in the long run in the SEC. It will take 4-5 years to rebuild the trenches. I am amazed with the progress Pruitt has made in year 3.

I talked with a P5 staff member who watched the Georgia game. He was amazed with the Vol defense for 3 quarters. He said they were simply worn down in 4th with the offense not helping at all. He thinks that the future is bright for the Vols.

I’ve always thought the time to start judging the Pruitt era was when he decides to roll out his guy behind center. A QB, it’s about the QB. I think Willis and Lewis are absolute game changers on defense too. I’m disappointed in DB recruiting. I’m not confident in Chaney, but he maybe a good pairing with Bailey and these WRs to make some noise. I want to make some serious 10-2/11-1 type noise in 2022. I don’t have the same type of hype for next year as others.

Unfortunately I think last weeks loss really made the rebuild extremely hard. It looked like a year-1 type of rookie HC loss, absolutely terrible. I don’t know if made Mims’ mind, but it should affect future OL if we’re honest.

It seems like Chaney wants a DT at QB. I won't be surprised if Salter is the man next year.

I will take a win over bama regardless of the circumstances.
They can have all the excuses and asterisks...just give Tennessee the win.

I do want bama to beat the ever livin crap outta the dawgs first though...
I would like this scenario to happen:

UGA Loses to Bama.
We beat Bama and win out.
We play UGA in SEC Championship game......
We beat UGA.

“Disclaimer this isn’t possible btw”

Pruitt I don’t believe should be in hot seat. His offensive coaches should be.

This is where we need to keep things in perspective.

When Pruitt was hired, we were coming off our worst season ever. We had a 2017 class that was "scrappy", .. "underdogs".. BADLY needed coaching and development, and with the talent gulch between us and Bama/Georgia, that class was always going to be an albatross around our neck.
(FWIW, Bumphus, Butler, Bennett, Calbert, Johnson, and Palmer have all shown enough improvement to give CJP his due credit in developing them.)

We were coming across the biggest s***show of a coaching search and likely the lowest water mark of prestige ever. We knew then that we weren't in a normal rebuild. Personally, I was saying 5 years no matter what.

So we stumble along with low lows and modest highs the next couple seasons and then COVID happens. Short of going 1-9/0-10, this year is and was always going to be a wash.

Fast-forward to this past weekend. We were on a long win streak, yes against some not-great teams, but now one half of football where an elite defense lived up to their billing is making people doubt everything? Naaahh

Where are you seeing this? No way in the world he should be remotely close to the hot seat regardless of what happens this weekend.

Pruitt I don’t believe should be in hot seat. His offensive coaches should be.

It was an elite defensive front versus a very good OL, a C+ QB that has always struggled under extreme distress, a RB in Ty that has always struggled in pass pro, and starting WRs that don't have the raw natural talent that their defense had.

Sometimes you just get beat. They had the personnel. They pulled the tricks out of bag, like the late shifts and (allegedly) mimicking the snap count. We lost that game. That doesn't mean you get rid of one of the most diversified, seasoned OCs; the "second best" OL coach behind Pittman; WR whisperer, top recruiter, son of UT and former NC title winner; and other son of UT, proven RB coach and recruiter Graham.

I don’t think it’s the loss so much as how we lost. I don’t think that anyone ever really expected JG to suddenly look like Manning. I think a lot of the disappointment is because what everyone thought would be a strength (OL) looked like total $&¡7.

Side note: I feel even better about the D after this game. They are holding up their end.
