Recruiting Forum Football Talk II

So, I’m seeing some folks suggesting the fanbase is not happy with Pruitt and he would be squarely on the hot seat with a loss this weekend.

1) do you feel that way?
2) I’m stunned, if it’s the case, that I’m not leading the charge.

I like Pruitt and think he’s done a good job. I’d rate it about 7/10.
He’s the best coach we’ve had in years. He’s the guy who can bring us back imo. Defense has vastly improved. If he hits on a QB we will be top 5 class every year.

There could be something to that, the reports of him not recruiting Bailey at Georgia... imagine he’s having Justin Fields withdrawals.
Salter won’t be ready. He runs the most basic, athlete driven offense you can imagine at Cedar Hill. He needs a year. Bailey is 3 years ahead of him in that department. And he recruited Bailey at UGA. That’s Dawg fan driven fiction.

It seems like Chaney wants a DT at QB. I won't be surprised if Salter is the man next year.

I think Chaney probably just wants someone who can read a defense and get the f@&$in ball out quickly with accuracy.

We all due deference to the Power T Tape guy and his breakdown, I don’t buy that “the rb was too far inside to make the block on the first fumble, and then too far outside on the next one.” The line played poorly, but our QB should have eaten the sack yardage rather than turning into a turnover machine. Our defense was playing good enough.

And let’s be real: JG is our best option right now because our stud prospect doesn’t have a spring or fall practice under his belt. I’m not convinced that Chaney is in love with a dual threat qb, or else Jimmy Holiday wouldn’t be over with the WRs.

Meanwhile, JG isn’t going to all of the sudden become elite. He is who he is. A guy who will drop an absolute dime into the end zone one series, and then the guy who will panic and make poor reads the next series.

I like the kid. He is a competitor. He has heart. He could have given up on us many times when it’s clear that the fanbase had given up on him. He just isn’t gonna be kid that that’s gonna play a flawless game that is going to put you in a position to beat a team that you have no business beating.

you don't have a big enough sample to reliably make that statement.

besides, wasn't he a true freshman LY?

c'mon man, you can be better than that - can't you?
Better than what? He flashed at times but he was no better than JG. Shrout is better than BM and I still don’t know what Bailey offers.

I'm not on board with Pruitt being on the hot seat and I'm not on board with the fire Pruitt crowd either but im doubting him right now. A loss this weekend would be bad but I dont think anything he does this year is a fireable offense for many reasons. He's done a decent job of turning over the roster, but id be lying if I didn't say I'm a little disappointed and thought we would be further ahead then we are now. But if there is one thing Dooley and Butch taught me I think every coach should at least get 1 full class Freshman to Seniors before we decide if hes the guy or not.

It was an elite defensive front versus a very good OL, a C+ QB that has always struggled under extreme distress, a RB in Ty that has always struggled in pass pro, and starting WRs that don't have the raw natural talent that their defense had.

Sometimes you just get beat. They had the personnel. They pulled the tricks out of bag, like the late shifts and (allegedly) mimicking the snap count. We lost that game. That doesn't mean you get rid of one of the most diversified, seasoned OCs; the "second best" OL coach behind Pittman; WR whisperer, top recruiter, son of UT and former NC title winner; and other son of UT, proven RB coach and recruiter Graham.
Yeah well tell the same thing to elite coaches who coach up players and game plan. If you have talent anyone can line up against lesser and smaller talent and run the football. Kiffin is an OC first year with team that went 4-8 on COVID year went for almost 700 yards against a team with just as much talent as GA.
We certainly got beat but if anyone is to blame it’s the offensive coaches. Now granted not all of them but Big Jim gotta be in check as Will BestFriend.

If he loses this weekend make no mistake, his seat will get hotter. I don't think we fire him unless there is a complete collapse and he loses this team which I don't see happening.

If I'm Fulmer though I make it clear before the end of the year he and his staff must improve in three areas, QB and O-line development along with strength and conditioning. I don't think Pruitt has any choice but to go in another direction at QB coach. JMO.

Thought it was stated the other day BM is borderline a complete nut job???

Yooo we could cool it with this talk. Or at least frame it better.

BM has been through some stuff and he came out and talked about how he’s struggled with anxiety and depression since 7th grade.

Mental health struggles are real. Seems a bit disrespectful to label it as BM being a nut job, nahmean?

LOL why are some of y’all talking about Pruitt being on the hot seat?

We just lost to a top 5 team, on the road, where we were 2 TD underdogs.

Prior to that game we had won 8 in a row.

What is happening in here???
Some of the same people I had conversations weeks ago. “Might as well try _____”. “Season doesn’t count.” 😏
