Long - OC
O - TE
Tee - WR
Chaney - OL
Jay - RB
Davis - DL/DC
Nieds - ILB
Felton - OLB
Ansley - Secondary

Starters on O: Bailey, Gray/Small, Hyatt/Palmer/BJ, Beckwith, Johmson, Trey, BK, Cade, Wright

Starters on D: Emerson, Solomon, Butler, DJ, Mojo, Toot, QC (other olb, Mojo ilb) BT, AT, Flowers, McCoullough, Key

Really not that hard.

-I think Caldwell should be promoted to on field DL coach and i would rather Pruitt spend more time with the LBs and try to find a pass rush.

-Name Maurer at QB Monday and give him 2 weeks and let tee help Chaney install a game plan like we had last year with Maurer. More rpos, some options, force the ball to velus Jones underneath and out of the back field even.

- pick 1 OL combination and stick with it for 2 weeks.

- move crouch back to edge and roll with Henry t and banks since were in nickel 90% of the time.

I agree with you here, for sure. Maurer gave us a bit more of a spark. JG made some good throws but if we’re being honest with ourselves, that’s his throw. He’s made it a million times and that’s likely the throw they see him make in practice frequently, hence why he starts week in and week out. The run game, when everything was blocked well, actually looked pretty good against a team full of talent on that side. I truly think we’re a class away from at least being more of a threat to these upper tier teams. We’ve all just got to be more patient. The man has basically only had 2.5 classes and that first as we all know was a patchwork because of the time of year we let Lyle go. I’d be much more concerned if this is still happening later into next season. Then the seat should start getting warm

It’s called expectations and we have to start raising them. I don’t want a new coach every three years. No one does. But when you look worse in year three than the previous year, that is a problem. It’s also not a good look to have so many assistants leave every single year for a brand new head coach. Recruiting is important but you have to be able to coach them up and play the right players. We are more talented than Kentucky and just got throttled.

So you wanna fire a coach every time they lose a game they should win?

Yes we’ve looked like poo and that is disappointing. But let’s see what happens after the bye week.

As for expectations, first let’s let the season play out. Second, what were your realistic expectations coming into a year where 3 years ago we lost every SEC game we played? Climbing out of the cellar isn’t easy. Even when we won 8 SEC games in a row it’s not like we were crushing teams. We needed a goal line stand to beat UK last year.

Once the Covid schedule came out, 6-4 prob should’ve been the most optimistic record prediction with 5-5 a real possibility. Both of those are still on the table.

Now if we end up 3-7 then that’s a whole other convo.

Staff wise I think everyone wanted Jay Graham over David Johnson. Kevin Sherrer left for the NFL. What coach wouldn’t want to coach in the NFL? No recruiting, just coaching. Can’t really fault coaches for losing guys to the NFL. Also 95% of this board was begging for us to get rid of Rocker.

Ansley should not be coaching a position. He should focus on being DC. Why do we need two linebacker coaches? Coaches should be DC, DL, LB, and DB. We should not need more with Pruitt as HC.
Offense needs OC, QB, RB, WR, OL, and TE. One of offense guys should be ST. Let OC focus on game plan and play calling and oversee offensive staff

Good post. Too many fans want that immediate turn around that just isn’t possible. It takes a lot of work and time.

The ball was thrown to Palmer, Hyatt ran the wrong route and brought an extra defender in to make the play. If Hyatt doesn't do that, Palmer might have caught the TD that hit him in the hands anyways.

And yes it does have to do with your post. If Hyatt wants to play more he has to run the right routes, run block correctly, and do more than just run gos and deep posts. It took them this long to teach him that, and he's still making mistakes.

That hit the Alabama defender was covering Palmer in the numbers. What were you watching?

Don’t think the team could have a Rudy moment and it would matter

also I think Maurer is 4th and only played yesterday because Pruitt coaches like a travel team coach and realized he was the only one that hasn’t played yet

Maurer was clearly 2nd on the depth chart yesterday cuz he was the first to go in after JG. Pruitt didn’t wanna get Bailey injured. Use your head.

Here’s where I am this morning. Outside of Pruitt doing something unethical to get canned with cause he’s going to be the coach at least through next year. Under the circumstances he was a panic hire but far from the worse we could have done. This is a weird year anyways so if he does nothing else the next two years at least he can continue to get our roster close to par with Bama, UGA, and UF. If he finds lightning in a bottle and one of Bailey, Salter, or Simpson is the real deal then we can compete for the East. It all comes down to the QB position, simple as that. If he can’t find that QB then Fulmer is working in the background the next two years to have the next right guy lined up to avoid another panic hire. In Battle Captain I trust.

Watching Maurer again, kid has some wheels
He’s just needs to play

Pruitt knows we need a Dual threat QB. I guess that’s why he refuses to play Bailey and doesn’t like Shrout because JG knows the offense better than HB and makes less mistakes than Shrout. BM hasn’t practiced and that’s why he hasn’t played sooner. Doesn’t play Bailey so he doesn’t scare off Salter.

I truly wonder if our Offense will look different overall with BM or Salter

He may be but Maurer should definitely not be 4th and you can feel his energy when he’s on the field. He ignites the teams. He’s wild and a head case but he’s scrappy and at least i know he would’ve broke his neck trying to tackle a guy on a pick 6.

This really isn't the "most popular guy on the team is the backup qb" syndrome. The starter can't get it done. Pruitt is asking him to do things he cannot do.

I don't blame JG . This is on Pruitt.
When a player can't bring his practice self into a game it's the players fault. There is literally no coaching technique that will help a player bring his practice self into the game. He either has it or doesn't.

I think this staff is not recruiting enough good players and they also keep flip flopping players positions and position coaches so how are they supposed to really develop into anything?
I think you hit the nail on the head with this staff wanting players who are interchangeable. I kinda think this holds them back a little because they don't get the necessary reps at their normal position.

Weinke's coaching of QBs is underwhelming, and Friend's coaching of the OL has been at times as well. The OL played well against Bama though. I think there are definitely still wrinkles in this staff that need to be ironed out.

JG was not the problem yesterday.

The Defense was the problem.

And offensive gameplan. Why in the hell would we go uptempo vs Bama when their O is their strength? Should’ve slowed the game down. We’re not an explosive O and our ground game can consistently get yards (minus UGA) so slow it down. Grind the clock. Take a few shots off play action. But don’t feed Bama the ball right back bc we didn’t get a first down and tried to go uptempo.

I never understood the rocker hate. He made Phillips and shy into legit nfl players. He deserves credit for D Taylor. At least some.
