I’m willing to go the Mark Stoops route. It’s just year 3. I believe in Jeremy Pruitt, I think he can get it done. Let him build and establish the program. Give him plenty of time and patience. Let him find a QB and I think we’ll be good.

Don’t even want to talk about another coaching search.
Say it louder please for the folks in the back.

I guess Josh Dobbs should have never played. Some times people are gamers and not good practice players. And our coaching staff makes millions of dollars to win football games.
he probably wouldn't have, if they had another choice...don't forget that. it's not like htey were putting him becuae they had some gut feeling on him.

they had to....the rest is history.

even Saban had this issue with TUa and Hurts. vritually everyone that had seen Tua play at any level thought he was most definitley the better qb of the two. and every time he got put in for garbage duty, he'd wow the crowd....

but it wasn't until Hurts got hurt, and tua had to play, that it happened. and we know how it ended....with hurts coming back to save the bammers since tua sorta stunk it up in that title game....lol.

anyway...i think there's a such thing as gamers...dont' get me wrong.

but most coaches make their living by playing the best players that they can rely on for consistent results.........................and trying to hang pruitt for doing the same is not even remotely fair.

....it just so happens that the most consistent guy at QB he has is one of the most inconsistent guys we've ever seein. and i still think that says more about what's behind him, than it does anything else.

and i'd still be ok seeing MAurer or Bailey hit the field....i'm in the camp that it can't be worse.....i do not for one second think it's going to magically make everything better....it may get better....but that's a TBD for sure.

anyway.

Same. Just so tired of watching JG lose us games that it’s making me dislike Pruitt. Plus I’m a reactionary.
I just wish we would throw HB in as soon as he’s ready. This season is already screwed up in terms of whether we will compete. Get bailey in there and generate some excitement ASAP!

If you think Dobbs wasn’t giving maximum effort in practice & prep for gameday then you’re mistaken.

Handing a starting job to a freshman who goes half speed or shows up late for meetings isn’t the same as having an inaccurate QB that’s giving his all. Don’t forget Dobbs also didn’t have a dedicated positional coach during his time here, because Butch is an idiot.

It all goes back to priorities. As a coach, I don't exactly look at it like he (the poster you quoted) does. I want my players to understand what it takes to become the absolute best player they can be. If I play you giving half@ss effort in practice just because you will still most likey outperform your teammates then I am doing that player an injustice. But oh boy, I did win some games, wee-wee! I am reinforcing the behavior that is placing a ceiling on his success, and therefore there teams success. There is winning battles and then there is winning the war. CJP definitely falls in the category of trying to win the war, not just a battle. And honestly, any coach who has high-level prolonged championship type success believes in exactly the same thing.

it's not just about effort. lots of guys try hard, and still suck....if effort was the name of the game, the Rudy would have been a 4 year starter. or Colton Jumper would have been a sure fire fan favorite....lol.

it's about consistent reliabitiy of performance...and who does it at the highest levels?

now, that is all relative to what you have to work with, mind you...........

Yea they are taking the most stringent part of CDC’s guidance that’s meant for High Risk Population. Maybe for an older coach 70+, but that is absurd for college aged kids.

Nothing to do with CDC guidelines actually.

Heard the breakdown on the radio yesterday.

The reason they cancelled in the first place was due to myocarditis threat. The 21 days break down is basically the same as every other conference for the first 10 days + they do heart screening after that and it takes a couple days to get results and then they added a week for the player to be able to practice before playing to try and prevent injuries from being rushed back.

So it’s:

Same 10 days as everyone + heart screening and results + basically a week of practice to prevent injuries from the player not participating.

No I know Josh played hard always. I’m saying every report was him sailing balls or hitting the ground. He just didn’t practice well from reports. But he was hell on game day. I would love to have him right now. 4-1 at minimum right now.

well, and to be fair, he still wasn't ever great at throwing the ball...........he got marginally better at it, but it was his legs and ability to chicken ish in to chicken salad that got him by....and by got him by, i mean ball out......lol.

if he only had his arm to rely on in games, we'd probably of seen real quick why he wasn't getting the nod as the starter.

fortunately for us and him, he had....more.

Man, watching the Bama game. 2nd quarter at 8:03. JG could have built an arc with all the time he had. And then 7:33 too. JG throws it past Keyton and Gray with an outstanding catch from a missile from JG. Not needed. Then JG throws a dime to Palmer that he should have caught for a TD. Palmer was held on the play - no call of course. This is the frustrating thing with JG. His consistency is terrible. Bass is right, put Palmer, Hyatt, and our young fast wide receivers in and just run go routes. Three wide every time and max protect if we keep him as QB1.
