I'd take 85 more like Banks and Jennings I dont care how many penalty, fumbles or missed assignments I had. It's better than the **** I seen Saturday. No care or effort
can't really disagree. but the mistakes (turnovers) wipe out any gains made thru effort and sheer want to.
we're a very cliche bunch here on VN. and i see no reason to break that trend. as has been said...many, many times before......this team, where it is right now needs a guy like Al Wilson or Raynoch Thompson or Chad CLifton that has the stones to stand up and "will" a team mate to GAS.
when the players start holding each other, and themselves, accountable, things will change.
that doesn't mean that i absolve the coaches. one of the things that was said on the radio here in Charlotte today, referencing coaching in general, but they were spotlight our game, the MO game, and a few others that had startling results, was that the coaches of these teams sometimes forget what their purpose is, at least in regards to the point of playing........put the kids in the best postion possible to win the game.
in that regard, i don't think our staff did that Saturday. they may not have thought they had to do that given the competition level, but regardless, they didn't help the DL by keeping KG in there for 20+ snaps. they didn't help the offense by keeping #8 out of the game. there are other examples one could point to but i hope you get the point.
it takes both. team needs leadership and the staff has to at some point recognize what's' in the teams best overall interest in order to get better. not trying to outsmart itself to try and solve depth issues all in one shot.
decide what you want to do, go do it, do it well, beat the tar out of GSU in the 1st half doing it and then play whoever tf you want to.
err'body wins.
just go beat BYU, and re apply the above to UTC, and then go kick the crap out of FL and put September behind us. remember, it's only May mfr's.
