Freeze would be a home run hire. He is available and wants to be here and we have a coach that has shown he can’t get it done. Somehow, this will still not end up happening

It’s hard to imagine what it’s like to be a Tennessee fan until you’ve lived it.
My brother is a Colts fan and messaged me talking trash about the Titans last night. I had to remind him I've been a Vols fan my whole life, so the way the Titans played is just par for the course for me.

It was only partially about money, because really, those contributions are a small drop in a $40MM bucket. It was about standing together and making a unified effort to help the university. People were only asked to take a short-term cut. They were told that UT was looking for full unity, which would have sent a strong message. Most were immediately responsive.

Both of our football coordinators refused... and refused. It says something about commitment when two of the highest-paid coordinators in college football-- and the two highest paid assistants on Pruitt's staff-- won't agree to an eight-month reduction to support an All Together effort. It's difficult to build a unified program with that sort of "leadership."

Hot take here: I don't have a problem with the assistants not taking a pay cut and I don't think it's relevant. I also think it's irresponsible because it was like 300k total so why demonize these guys? That doesn't repair an alleged 40m loss.
It also probably doesn’t make much of a difference for the secretaries, video guys, or equipment staff to take a cut either but they did and I can guarantee you it has a bigger impact on their quality of life then these underperforming football coaches.

Titans are thoroughly owned by the Colts. It's almost to Vols/Gators level. Colts don't even need to have a good football team to beat the Titans. Hell they beat us in 2011 when they were tanking for Luck.

Don't think they got a choice. If they had, I don't think they would have been 100% on board either.

And is particularly bad given that many people have lost jobs altogether. It reflects poorly on integrity and decency.

And Pruitt didn't take a pay cut either, correct?

I know he deferred his raise - but that's not the same thing.

I'm not against people taking every dime they can get. I get that.

But let's be honest - football coaches are drastically overpaid for the work they do. And to see how COVID is affecting your community, and to see the support staff, the sanitation crew, the janitors, the landscaping crew, all be forced to take pay cuts (or have their jobs cut entirely), and you decide not to try to mitigate those problems by giving some back?

Man, just looks awful.

@LA Vol

Pruitt is here another year so something else must change. How many of Chaney, Weinke, and Friend will be on the staff next year in your opinion?

Impossible to know how it'll all shake out. Friend's contract is up. Weinke's likely gone if he can find something better, and there will be many sighs of relief. Chaney's on cruise control so if he'll amble back to Arkansas to join his good buddy Pittman, that'll give Pruitt a do-over-over. It wouldn't be surprising if most who refused to sign the contract amendment are looking to move on.

Really good to have you back, appreciate the info..

I agree with this.

Each individual has the right to choose if they want a paycut or not. The media bringing negative attention to this is not right in my opinion.

I've never been someone who advocated for a "Tennessee guy" to lead the football program. For the most part I think that's overblown. BUT, if we want to think back to our peak years from 94-04, this was more than a job to Majors, Fulmer, Chavis, Cutcliffe, etc. This was their home and for most of them, their alma mater.

There's something to that. And this current group of coaches have made it abundantly clear this is a paycheck. And that's fine.

But when someone shows you who they are, believe them.

Good to know. I think we need a young gun at OC with a sharp mind and someone willing to take risks and show some creativity. Not necessarily change our offense but at least have some new wrinkles and some new formations!

People who make six figures almost always earn that. No one is going to pay that kind of money for people to sit at the house.

I mean I get it not being good look bu not many people in any profession are just going to be all fired up and elated to take a pay cut... kinda petty for people to be mad about imo.
