Since we’re talking fandom and generations...
I was born in the mid 70s and remember watching Vols games on a black and white TV with my dad - sound turned down so we could listen to John Ward call the game on the radio.

I remember being excited that we won the championship in the ‘98 season, but also distinctly recall thinking that wasn’t all that extraordinary- we had just won some SEC championships, and the future promised many more opportunities for trophies.

Now my oldest is 14 and she has inherited the Orange blood. She watches every game with me. But, think about this - other than flirting with a good season in 2016, she has never seen a great Vols season (she was 1 in ‘07 so that doesn’t register).

I don’t know how much longer I can convince her (or me for that matter) that a Vols return to prominence is likely ☹️
Same thing here. My oldest just turned 16 and I've got a 13 yr old too. I tell them all the time "hang on boys, we're going to be good again". They think I'm full of crap. Both of them like the Vols but they're not into it like I was at their age. My sister has 4 kids and only 1 likes the Big Orange. It's depressing.

*We need to hire Freeze soon or we'll lose a whole generation of VOL fans. Come on Phil, do it for the children

i sometimes envy you younger ones...you don't know what you're missing. i know for my kids, who are a generation behind you, they truly have no idea, not even a childhood memory of that "one year" we were good lol.

for the Gen X crowd...

this has been a long, long, long decade+.......

for the majority of my child hood and up until my mid 30's...basicaly my entire life up until i was about 35...we were a relevant program, and were good to very good most years...elite for more than a couple of years....

to see what we've seen since 2005 really has been....well, not much fun.

Don't envy us younger ones. We know exactly what we are missing and have never got to experience yet. At least y'all have those memories and experiences. We have nothing. It's beyond frustrating.

My son is 3 and there are days I question whether to end this curse of misery that is every Saturday. Usually by Wednesday the next week I’m convinced we will beat the next team by 20 and change mind, lol. Anyone else feel like this?
