Then when Lane was hired I really got back onboard. Really awful timing. It's hard to believe we've been bad for so long. And that we've only beaten Florida once and Bama ZERO times since then. Saban took over and that was that. It's almost incredible how we haven't even "accidentally" beaten Bama. Or Florida for that matter! It took the greatest second half in UT history to beat a 9-4 Gators team.

I'm 30, and remember the NC and the nationally relevant years of the late 90's and early to mid '00s. I cried like a girl after LSU blocked our NC matchup with Miami in '01. Even in high school (04-08) we were major SECC contenders. Post HS, its just been a disaster.

I've watched almost every Tenn football game with my father since I was a toddler. He's been a fan since the 60's. He's never seen it so bad. He's even intentionally skipped a few games the last several years knowing how badly we'd get beaten. That never would have happened prior to 2015.

Wanted him at Edge but I’m down to hoping he can fill the gap at ILB.

When he took the job everyone acknowledged it was a 4-5 year rebuild.

Not giddy about keeping him. I just see things how they are. Hes saddled with a pathetic OC, and QB. His linebacker depth chart is littered of guys learning how to play the linebacker position. We have no elite pass rushers. Rotating door on the OL. Etc

This season is a wash for me. It’s inconsistent all across college football.

Coaching change now sets us back even further.

Trust me, if he sucks next year I’m all for change. And I promise, next year there will be another flashy name coach out there we can all foam at the mouth over. Freeze is being made out to be Saban. He isn’t. Far from it.

Is all of that not his fault. We said 4 years and we would be competing for SEC Championship not losing to Kentucky and Arkansas (who has a new coaching staff and was on like a 20 game SEC losing streak.) We are regressing. Not improving and the talent level should be considered better. So...

for the Gen X crowd...

this has been a long, long, long decade+.......

for the majority of my child hood and up until my mid 30's...basicaly my entire life up until i was about 35...we were a relevant program, and were good to very good most years...elite for more than a couple of years....

to see what we've seen since 2005 really has been....well, not much fun.

I woke up the other day to my 8-yo watching highlights from the 2016 season. I was talking to him like he remembered it. He said “uh dad I was 4, I don’t remember this.... I hope Tennessee is good in my lifetime” 💔. That was a darn fun season though, for awhile.
