I vote for Freeze. The fans want Freeze. I see absolutely NO WAY IN HELL the powers that be would sign off on it. Not the school, not the boosters, not the SEC. Give. It. Up.

Why give it up when the search hasn’t even begun? That’s dumb.

We both know all too well what this means… If we do not play another game, Pruitt is safe until next year, recruiting will tank this year, and we will be in the same position that we were after Butch wanted out in 2016 and we made him come back in 2017. It will be another five year rebuild with Coach McGoogle instead of being able to possibly hire a proven winner right now. I cannot believe we keep making the same mistake over and over and over. It was clear when Dooley wanted out, it was clear when Butch wanted out, and it is clear now that Pruitt wants out.

It may not tank recruiting, might actually help. It keeps the crap show off display and gives the coaches more time to try and save the class and add to it. I want him gone as bad as anyone but all the talk of him being fired is probably hurting the class as much as the play on the field.

and Fitz? why? to me, he's totally meh. but what do i know....?

the only thing i've been right about in the past 3-5 years is that Dan Mullen isn't as bad a coach as many wanted him to be.....past that, i got nuthin'.

So here's my "odds to coach UT in 2021" list (most likely to least likely)

1. Pruitt
2. Napier/Chadwell/Beamer
3. Campbell
4. Google the guy
5. Freeze

And I think this has everything to do with folks not wanting to ruffle feathers with a Freeze hire. We didn't try to go back to Pearl once he was cleared, and he's now at Auburn. So I'll be shocked if we go after Hugh.

see that list, to me, looks like a mid major bball list. except none of these guys get to a tournament and see how they do agianst the big boys or make an elite 8/final four run. or a conf tourney run.

i guess i'm just kinda done with the guessing game. i wrote a post about this a few years ago...about how/why there are no more sure things in football anymore. head coaches simply do not get groomed liked they used to. it used to be "easier", forgive the simplicity of the term, to spot an urban meyer who worked his way up from bowling green, to utah, and won big...real big...then got the "big" job.

those don't exist anymore b/c guys move so fast, you don't really have a good handle on the resumes anymore....

and urban meyer was a midwest guy that coached in freaking utah and won national titles at FL, so i don't necessarily buy the "has to have ties to the south"....guys that can recruit and coach...recruit and coach no matter where they are. Nick Saban, same thing....before he got that LSU job, he wasn't "NICK SABAN"....and he went from midwest guy 100% to the deepest of the deep south and won big.

Not saying I buy into the whole “no ties to the south” thing, but you don’t think these blue haired boosters and Fulmer don’t still use that as a qualification?

Doesn’t sound like the type of guy to OK a Freeze hire. Nor does he seem like the type of guy that would allow boosters to influence his decision. I’d say if they hire Freeze then they’ll be looking for a new president.

USCjr mods plus @Atlanta VOL confirmed they went after Freeze. He said he wants UT job.

Serious question, is there any jobs Freeze be using us to get a bigger deal at? Liberty is having to pay him more because pretty much any P5 is bigger. We have been used as leverage so much in the past and evidently Freezes people says he want us here, and this early in the process makes me think we are leverage once again.

Purely speculation on my part, but the only other job possible in the SEC I think would be more appealing that -may- open up, is LSU. Auburn is always a wildcard, but I feel like they are sticking with Gus at this point since this season is such a mess with COVID.

Now if Hugh wants to be in another P5 conference who knows...lots of appealing spots to land if openings pop-up.
