100% USCjr would give Freeze whatever he wanted to be there. You don’t spend 13 mil on a buyout to go for coach google. It’s clear Freeze isn’t interested, but he is making it known that UT would be a job he would take. What we do with that I don’t know.

Who can Pruitt bring in on the defensive side of the ball to help coach them up so a HC in training isn’t training another guy? Gotta bring in guys with good experience at this point.

i don't think we'd have too many options this time around either....it's not exaclty "better".

i think we'd wind up getting some of those guys some pretty heft raises.

come to think of it we should just call Hugh on his bluff. fire pruitt and offer him the job at the same time.....put it on him.

I think its better in some ways. I believe we got better talent to work with that for some reason hasn't been developed under this staff. Got an AD that everyone knows (not saying he is a great AD). The atmosphere was off the charts crazy back then.

His only hope is that Bailey is the next Peyton. Personally I believe Bailey is going to be great, if our coaches don’t ruin him.

But if that happens Pruitt will look bad for continuing to play JG

What's crazy is if you remove the Peyton/Clausen era from Fulmer he really didn't do anything that impressive as a HC. So it's not unthinkable that a great QB could elevate a bad coach, if Bailey is close to Peyton/Casey level then his sheer talent will elevate the offense to 8+ wins for the time he's here. And if one of those seasons Pruitt has the defense clicking, you've got a real shot at winning the East.

Who knows though, I've been utterly disappointed with the offensive side since Pruitt showed up and the willingness to stay with JG through it all is truly baffling.

probably not. but what would be bad is the national, regional and local media screaming "hypocrites!!!" in our general direction for hiring Hugh Freeze, with his VERIFED checkered past, while rioting against Schiano for having a hint of one.

Doesn’t sound like the type of guy to OK a Freeze hire. Nor does he seem like the type of guy that would allow boosters to influence his decision. I’d say if they hire Freeze then they’ll be looking for a new president.

but pruitt nor butch was as polarizing as Hugh Freeze would be on day 1.

I'm not in Knoxville so I'm unsure who would be opposed to hiring him once Pruitt is out? I hear people say they're okay with him but they're not sure other people would be. Who are the other people? If we're talking about the snake handling crowd, they've already written those people off somewhere between sex week and in-stadium beer sales.

the cupboard, today, is definitley better. but....speaking only about the roster for this seaosn, the ESP is hpapeing while, right now anyway, there's gonna be games played.....so how many kids in our class today actually sign in December?

and on the heels of that, if this one time transfer rule comes in to play.....we could find our roster decimated, potentially, if some of the higher quality guys decide to throw their hats in the portal.

to say there's a lot on the TBD list would be an understatement.

First class for the most part was a throw away because of the little time Pruitt had to work with. 2 and 3rd he built on. This 2021 class is the one he had to nail IMO to make us start being competitive in the long run. We really need to hold onto the majority of this class since it’s looking like we’re not going to end up with a few of the bigger fish we needed.

After the Gruden stuff I'm not very optimistic Hugh will take it (or we'll even offer him).

I do feel like though IF Pruitt is fired this year, it'll be because Phil already has his guy on the hook.

I just say that considering the tone around him from the national media and the fact that South Carolina wouldn’t even give him a call.

His toxicity is going to be too off-putting for our administration. Just my two cents.

SC may not have called him, but you can bet they called Jimmy Sexton.
